Susan provided architectural plans as well as project supervision for a complete remodel of our home (down to the studs). She is extremely creative, easy to work with, and has an impressive knowledge of materials and construction technique. We went through multiple plan revisions and each time Susan was able to refine our vision for the project. She has access to terrific resources, which resulted in superior craftsmanship and product selection for various parts of the remodel. We are delighted with the finished project, which is everything we hoped it would be and more. I would recommend Susan Appleton to anyone who is looking for a talented, thoughtful, meticulous architect for their project.

After researching and interviewing several architects, we met with Susan Appleton and knew immediately that she would be able to make our vision reality. Susan has been an invaluable source of ideas and options and is helping us navigate the many decisions we have to make throughout the process. She has a great relationship with our general contractor, as well as the cabinet maker, both of whom she has worked with for over twenty years. We are currently in the process of building a small (1,700sqf) modern house on a long, narrow lot. She has managed to incorporate all our must-haves into the design and has used her expertise in lighting to enhance the style of the house. Her enthusiasm for the job is exciting, and her aesthetic has matched ours on almost every detail. She has gone above and beyond in getting it just right. Susan is easy-going and responsive, which makes working with her very enjoyable. Most recently she introduced us to a landscape architect she feels will be able to complete the project in a way that that will work seamlessly with our vision and her design. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again. We can’t wait to move in! We will add photos when the job is completed.

Susan Appleton is an exceptionally creative and competent architect.
For our project, a modern farm house in rural Denton county, my husband and I wanted a certain look and ambiance - a low maintenance place where we could retreat from Dallas and entertain friends and family. Susan designed a home that more than met our expectations. In implementing the plan, Susan communicates well with our general contractor and other people involved in the project. She is patient, pleasant, accommodating and a great listener. She is always available, flexible, and willing to come out to the project site to make sure things are going well. She truly deserves the 5 star rating.

Susan Appleton has been architect on two jobs for me, both remodels of older homes. The first was a 1950's home in Austin for which she did a total remodel in 2001, bringing it from '50s drab with mirrored walls, green shag carpeting and matching appliances to midcentury modern fabulous with concrete floors, open floorplan, stainless appliances, and spacious baths with loads of glass. All of this on a pretty tiny budget!
The most recent remodel is my current home in Oak Cliff, a 1920's Tudor that needed a new kitchen and a second bath in 2008. I now have a beautiful chef's kitchen and a modern master bath. Although the space for the kitchen was limited, Susan made the most of every square inch and every dollar! I have a galley kitchen with custom floor-to-ceiling cabinets on one section of wall that provide more than sufficient space for everything I need to store. In another section, I have below counter only cabinets and open shelving above the counter (from IKEA - beautiful, sturdy, and inexpensive) that expand the kitchen visually and provide pots and pans as well as dishes and glasses ready at hand while I perform chef duties.
My added bath was carved from a breakfast room. It was charming, but I needed the master bath more. I now have a floor-to-ceiling tiled bathroom (I was a little wary of the dark tiles everywhere, but they are beautiful and glamorous!). It is a small room, but the frameless glass shower and rain shower head are perfect and visually expand the room.
My next project will be to redo an original bathroom - one with purple, green and black tile. I am sure you can visualize it now! Can't wait to get Susan started with this project.

Susan is a very professional, thorough and creative architect. She has worked on two remodels for us including a pool/backyard. She is especially gifted at working with lighting. Her guidance was immeasurable.

I have known and worked with Susan Appleton, architect, since 1997. As a designer, I have always enjoyed the collaborative approach that Susan brings to each project that we have worked on together. She is truly a thinker and problem solver matched with her highly creative talent in design. I would highly recommend her to be a part of any project that I have under way where architectural drawings are necessary.

Susan Appleton is a visionary and consummate professional. Susan designed the renovation of my master bath suite--she created multiple designs of the space, including custom iron doors and an entirely recreated custom iron window, and guided me through all selections (tile, fixtures, lighting, and paint). I enjoyed working with Susan and am looking forward to future projects with her. I can recommend her without any reservation!
