Highly Rated Fairfield County Kitchen & Bath Designer Since 2006

Originally from California and NYC, I have been an independent kitchen and bathroom designer in Fairfield, CT since 1996. My background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tisch School of the Arts at NYU and jobs in Film, TV, and Theater. I began to design kitchens and bathrooms for friends and family in 1987 and went onto the NKBA training program in 1995. My training and experience encompass many disciplines, including color theory, space planning, lighting design, and ergonomics. I integrate classic design principles and current trends into my kitchen & bath designs. Each project challenges me on different levels: to identify my clients' needs, wishes, and style, to articulate the house's requirements and -- within the parameters of space and budget - to come up with an inspired kitchen or bath. I work very hard to give these spaces the "magic" that makes them a true pleasure to live in and experience. In 2007, the NKBA awarded me my Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) designation after I completed 7 years of coursework, an apprenticeship, and two examinations.

We met Tara upon a recommendation of another friend and described to her our project. She talked us through the whole process of renovating a kitchen and gave us project timelines and ideas. Her suggestions and recommendations were very very helpful. She's with it when it comes to all the up to date appliances, gadgets, styles etc. She bore in mind our budget at all times and we stuck to it. Her team is also very easy to work with. She held our hand through all of our decisions- tiles, appliances, color schemes, hardware- you name it! But it doesn't stop there. Tara didn't just renovate our kitchen, she took it upon herself to design the whole space. She gave us wonderful suggestions on lighting fixtures, bar stools and even our fireplace which was clearly not in the scope of her job. She goes over and beyond and that's what I loved about working with her. She was very professional but also very friendly. I'd recommend her blindly to anyone.

We met with Tara Veith to go over our new kitchen/pantry design since this was our first time designing a kitchen. Our original drawings before meeting Tara had a small office in the pantry area and after sitting down Tara highlighted this made for a less than ideal walking pattern since you would have to walk around to the other side to get to the pantry.. We opted to remove the office and instead created a “Super Pantry” that can be accessed from either side. This was a game changer in the overall kitchen design. We moved our home office to the old pantry making use of that space. Tara was open about various ideas, appliances and things to be aware of when designing and building a new kitchen.

Tara helped us to redesign our kitchen. It was a complicated project with multiple columns and beams and a large island but she was able to bind it all together and bring about a cohesive design that is open and bright and perfect for our life style. She was always mindful of our budget and gave us the best options. She designed the cabinets to fit our cooking style and had a wonderful cabinet maker and stone person who worked with her. Tara is one of those rare designers who not only has a great sense of design but she can explain "the why." I'm a designer myself (software) and a good designer not only works with constraints like cost, time, resources (which she does really well) but she can articulate the "WHY" one option might be better than another. Through working with her I was able to learn how to articulate my own taste which only helped insure my satisfaction with the end result. Face it, designing a space for someone else is hard - and there are a lot unknowns - but Tara's unique combination of empathy, experience, design knowledge and sense of humor made it SO worthwhile. I've talked and I have worked with more than a few designers - and she is, by far, the best. You won't be sorry.

During the design process, Tara guided us through the selection of stone, tile, bathtub & shower selection, as well as functional safety features to consider. As I was evaluating how to upgrade the kitchen in my Manhattan condo, Tara took time to educate me about different the design features (sink/faucet design, backsplash, countertop material) that would make the kitchen both memorable and unique to potential renters/buyers, and also would maximize the return on my investment given my budget constraints. Throughout the process I found Tara's advice to be both informative and differentiated, and she has been proactive and very responsive since day one. I would absolutely recommend working with Tara.

My husband and I were at the verrrry beginning of thinking about how to improve our kitchen. We asked Tara to consult with us just to get the ideas rolling. Tara came and was very practical and thoughtful in her analysis of what could be done, and what factors we should consider before making any decisions (including emotional ones - not just financial or design-oriented). As I told Tara later, I valued her consult because it helped my husband and I clarify our thinking about what we want and what we need. It made our conversations much more productive and ultimately saved us a lot of time. We highly recommend Tara for her patient, level-headed approach!

Tara was extremely helpful in our kitchen dining room, laundry, bathroom renovation. She had a great way of encouraging me not to settle. When the contractor/sub said something couldn't be done, Tara informed me that they may say something can't be done but it is just because it is difficult for them. Tara had great vision for the whole picture.

Tara helped us with a complete overhaul of our kitchen and bathroom, including adding a half bath. I can not tell you how many compliments we've received over the years! My husband and I were interested in having a pretty unique look, with vibrant colors and custom touches. However, we planned to put the house on the market in about five years, so we were aware of how important it was to maintain a look which would show well to a wide audience. Tara did an amazing job of hitting both goals - our kitchen and bathrooms felt just right for us - fun and full of "craft" touches. When we put the house on the market a few months ago, we heard tons of compliments about its charm. I strongly recommend Tara, because I believe she can help anyone achieve their own best design.

Commented: Self cleaningDual-fuel ranges will sometimes have a self-cleaning feature. It puts a lot of wear and tear on the range so you will have fewer issues if you don't run the self-cleaning cycle.
