We decided to do some home renovations a few years ago and chose Taylor Burton. We started out with a dim idea of the finished project; so we needed someone who would work with us over a potential long time to figure out exactly the final project and the final cost. We did not want to be pushed along. And, to be extremely difficult, we did not want to move out of the house! Taylor Burton accommodated us on all these fronts. They suggested we stage the work in five separate projects so that while they worked in one area of the house, we could live in another. Then they presented a line item budget for each stage that provided the cost of things like labor, materials, clean up, fixtures, lighting, flooring, windows, doors, insulation, HVAC... Line items like flooring gave us a flooring budget that allowed us to shop for flooring knowing that we could spend up to the line item amount and not exceed our budget. We spent a lot of unpressured time shopping to find just exactly the things we wanted for our renovation. If we spent less than the line item for the item, then the total budget cost would reduce by that amount. Taylor Burton gave us many wonderful ideas based on their experience and what was currently favored in the housing market. We spent about two years doing this renovation. During that time we renovated the basement, 3 bathrooms, added a half bath, added a large den/sun room, cabinets and flooring, two decks, front porch steps, a covered patio, and sod in the back yard. It was really a great deal of work. We always felt like we were in control, but we did not have to manage any part of the work. Whatever we wanted done, they would make it so. These are hard working men who are proud of their work. We enjoyed our conversations with them and learned a lot about renovations, Anytime we had a question, we just asked and they politely stopped whatever they were doing and answered us. Many times we changed our minds mid-stream and wanted something different. The answer I always heard was, " We can do that"! Its been a year or so since they finished our projects. We are well pleased. We are really enjoying our NEW home. Next time I want something done, I will call Taylor Burton again. I know they will say, "We can do that!"

Taylor Burton Company did an excellent job with my remodel and I can say with 100% certainty, the next construction job I have I will be calling them again!

Taylor Burton's company delivers dependable, quality workmanship. We hired them to manage a major addition (+1300 sq ft) to our house. They were patient through multiple design changes and indeed improved our original plans with suggestions that we didn't know enough to envision. Their experience was invaluable. Cris Speegle, who manages their renovation projects, was regularly onsite to manage various subcontractors and went above and beyond many times, including showing up on a weekend to personally handle an issue that came up since we were living in the house during the addition. Bottom line: you can trust Taylor and his associates to do what they say and to be there to back up their work.

Taylor built my house in 1993, and TBC, Inc just did an extensive exterior renovation in 2016. I have always relied on the expertise and quality they bring to the job.

We are very pleased with the work, we had an idea what we wanted and contractor had some good ideas to make it better. Work is very solid and tied in with existing structure very well. We made one change which was no problem and reduced the budget. Work was done in a timely and professional manner.

We chose Taylor Burton Company Inc. to build our home in 2011. Everyone with this group was knowledgeable and very easy to work with. My only frustration was with "allowances" that, in many cases, didn't cover the cost of what we expected for that item. We thought we had communicated exactly what we planned to choose in each area when we initially reviewed our plans then were surprised when the bid didn't include enough $ to cover our choices. In spite of that frustration, we were very pleased with the quality of work and the ease of working with the people at Taylor Burton Company. In 2016, we contracted with them again to finish two bedrooms and a bathroom in the previously unfinished areas of our upstairs. Using the same company again let's you know how much confidence we have in this group. My only suggestion to clients is to plan to spend more money and for the project to take more time than you think will be the case. Overall, we highly recommend Taylor Burton Company.

Taylor Burton Company finished my basement. They did an excellent job with the plan I had to turn the area into a playroom. They were exactly on budget with their original quote and were professional the whole way. Cris, who oversaw the project, informed me of all the daily tasks and made me aware of who would be coming to my house to work and when. I would highly recommend if you need a building company!

Our remodeling project involved a new kitchen, laundry room, and screen porch and the extension of the den. Cris was great to work with. He was very responsive and polite. He listened to all of my concerns and ideas and we talked out a lot of ideas to come up with the best option. He was very good at keeping the job site as clean as it could be and made sure we met our "absolute" deadline. And the work was very well done. A couple of things I wished - better tracking of expenses and the flooring and painting were not as well done as would have liked. The bricking and wood working was great and the electricians, plumbing, and tile guys were very good.

We hired Taylor Burton to build a screened porch. The project also included retiling and extending our deck, relocating stairs, and reworking our lower-level patio, landscaping and drainage. We were very pleased with the professionalism and quality of Taylor Burton and its subcontractors. We were especially impressed by the responsiveness and creativity of Cris Speegle, our protect manager .

We completed a whole house renovation (e.g., took roof off, walls to studs, and added square footage). Communication with the builder was easy and not intimidating. They troubleshot issues with us and did not make unilateral decisions without our knowing. We noticed that subs used in the process had worked for Taylor Burton Co. for many years which gave me confidence in their quality. We have been in the home for 10 years now with very little issues - most recently finished out a playroom and storage area with them this past year. I highly recommend.

We have worked with the Taylor Burton Company on several occasions. Taylor has always been responsive and very helpful in determining the scope and direction of a project. Many years ago, during a basement remodel, the project came in on time and on budget. One memory I have is my request that the new rooms downstairs look like they went with the rest of the house...and the transition from upstairs to downstairs is seamless. We have been very pleased with this remodel. More recently (2011) Cris Speegle was the project manager for our new porch. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Cris. New bathroom and renovate old bathroom. Company did a great job and paid attention to details. Subs were professional and courteous. Both the new construction and the renovation were done timely and any changes were communicated clearly. I would recommend them to anyone.

We have been very pleased with their practical approach to balancing our wants with reasonable costs expectations. Taylor Burton Company built my home in 1999. The house was well built and the craftsmanship was well above average. Over time, like most homes, I needed repair and updates. One such repair/update that was needed was to have a new sink and faucet installed. This would involve removing under mount sink that was part of the counter tops. Taylor Burton and Company gave me an estimate and I hired them for the work. They were prompt, put up screens so that all the cutting involved would not spread dust throughout the house. They were able to cut out the old sink and replace it with a more modern sink and it looked as if it was a part of the original construction. More importantly, they care about their work. When we decided to sell the home in 2014 and there were perceived inspection issues, Taylor Burton Company came out to the house that they built in 1999 to examine the inspection items and to ensure us that the items noted were not issues at all. They were right. The new potential buyers hired a structural engineer to examine inspection items and found the potential issues found by the inspector were not an issues at all and that the house was built correctly. I don't know of any other builder who cares about their work so much as to come back 15 years later to ensure that they did good job from the very beginning.

Taylor Burton company completed a major kitchen remodel in our home. They are very easy to work with and have great ideas for functionality as well as beauty. The workers were very pleasant and we were never hesitant to leave the house with them inside. I look forward to working with them again on future remodel jobs in our home.

Taylor Burton has continued the family tradition by being active in the National Association of Home Builders, Home Builders Association of Alabama and the Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders. Taylor has held virtually every office in the Birmingham Association and he has been named Home Builder of the Year by the Alabama Association. He served as President of the the Home Builders Association of Alabama in 2013. Co-owner Blake Pittman has six years experience in the building trade, has held numerous management positions in manufacturing and holds a degree in economics from UAB.

This has been the 3rd renovation project I have contracted through Taylor Burton Construction and as expected the experience was fantastic. Taylor and his business parter Blake were always engaged in every aspect of the project. This renovation required an expertise that I would not have entrusted to any other firm. Taylor Burton grew up building homes with his father and is unmatched in his construction knowledge in the state of Alabama. The project was painstakingly reviewed to keep the addition from looking like an addition and I can say it was a success.
