About Us

My name is Andy Gorstein. In 1943 my Grandfather began a venture called B & A Glass and Shade Co. in NYC on Amsterdam Avenue. His store sold Shades, Mirrors, Wallpaper, Hardware & Carpeting. My father Norman joined the business in 1964 when it relocated to Englewood, NJ. Having spent most of my childhood observing and learning about window coverings, it was only natural for me to get involved full-time. I soon realized that there was a great need for a business that specialized in only custom window coverings at great discount prices. In 1987, I began what is now called The Blind Spot. My business is conducted out of my ”State Of The Art Mobile Showroom" keeping my expenses to a minimum. At "The Blind Spot" customer service is first and foremost. I am your consultant, your installer & the owner of my company. With the addition of my son Jack helping me in the summer months , I'm proud to call myself a fourth generation business. I carry the complete Hunter Douglas line of products and I am also a Centurian Dealer. . Call me for a free consultation. I'll bring my state of the art mobile showroom to your home/office and demonstrate fully functioning shades, motorized and manual in a beautiful showroom atmosphere.

I had seen ads for The Blind Spot online and chose them because every review they received was excellent. My blinds were installed a few days ago and I couldn’t be more pleased. They are extremely well made and look beautiful. Andy is a pleasure to deal with. I have already recommended him to my neighbor.

I needed blinds for my townhome but really didn't know what was available and what would be a good look. Andy brought his "on wheels showroom" to my home, and there we looked at all the options after he looked at my windows and listened to my needs. It was a terrific experience to walk outside my home and see all the options that were available. I would highly recommend Andy helping you choose and install your new window treatments.

Andy and team did a very good and professional job at my apartment. We have them upgraded all our existing blinds in the our apartment to HunterDouglas brand. The work is very professional and all we can say is a "Job Well Done". Yes I will recommend "The Blind Spot Pompton Lakes" to everyone!

Just had all my blinds done and the job came out great. Andy was great, and very informative as the salesman/estimator in the initial meeting. He felt me out and picked out the perfect blinds for my situation and tastes. The price was very reasonable also. The installers did a great job, also. The whole operation was very professional. I highly recommend this company for your future needs.

My sister and I have used Andy for blinds. What I love and respect the most is his kindness. He stands behind his product and will help in any way possible. I enjoy having conversations about his family. (especially his son) Andy is passionate about his blinds and he will get back to your with quotes and then complete first class work. He works alone so you get his best each and every time. I strongly recommend him and I am not one to complete these surveys. Thus , you know he must be the best.

Andy from Blind Spot very professional deamnor while also very friendly. Incredibly convenient concept, showroom comes to you. He listened to what we where thinking about and was helpful with design ideas. Even helped out with issue 2 years after installation. Which went perfect.
