The Shading Company

Our back patio looks onto a large greenbelt facing east. The sun is fierce across the back of our house in the morning and throughout the afternoon as well. To address the issue of the blinding light and heat on the back patio, we began to explore motorized shades. We met with four vendors and finally settled on The Shading Company and Mark Lopez. His is a fairly new business, and we originally had some concerns about contracting with a newer company, especially since one of the more established competing vendors has a good reputation. However, Mark Lopez went above and beyond to obtain our business and his pricing was competitive. He came to the house and spent a great deal of time explaining exactly how the shades work, how they’re manufactured and installed, how to operate them, and the warranty details. Mark Lopez was professional, was responsive, clearly takes pride in his product, and he earned our trust. At our request, before we made any commitment, he even sent his electrician out to insure that there would be no problem with wiring through the attic. The installation went perfectly, the shade is attractive, we’re impressed with the quality, and it works like a charm. The shade is operated with a remote control. In the morning we start out with the shade down several feet to block out the rising sun. Later in the morning we put the shade all the way down to block out the sun entirely. Although sun shades do cut down on visibility to some extent, we haven’t found it distracting. AND, the drop in temperature within the house is amazing. Motorized sun shades are expensive; however, our shade has greatly improved our quality of life, and we feel it was well worth the money. We couldn’t be more pleased.

I was blown away by the service I received from Cortina Shades. My install was far from standard, yet they met every custom challenge -- loft condo with uneven concrete walls & zero interior sills, 100% blackout(!), WiFi remote control via iPhone, etc. Plus their quote came back significantly less than all the other players in town. Hands-down the best deal, and I didn't have to sacrifice anything. I have been 100% happy with the job they did and the product I received. My new electric shades are now a focal point, ridiculously pro & clean, always a fun topic of conversation. My guests go nuts when I demo a mid-day blackout from my phone. :) Thank you Antonio, Mark, & James! You guys went above & beyond. I am an extremely grateful & satisfied customer. We were in need of an outdoor shade for our backyard in the summer and a way to block the wind in the winter. After much research we hired Mark Lopez to install a remote controlled/motorized unit that has exceeded our expectations. The whole process was quick and professional. The ease in which the shade was ordered and installed was impressive. We have had multiple gatherings since installing the shade and on more than one occasion our quests have been so impressed with the look, ease and functionality, they too have called Mark for their own needs.
