Build 7 Christchurch
Custom Home Services in Christchurch, Canterbury
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars4 May 2017
From the get go we decided that communication was a very important part of the build process and it quickly became apparent that Build7 were on the same page. Within 3 days of meeting Jamie for the first time we had a quote and basic plan in our hands. He was understanding of our budget constraints and was excellent at coming up with alternatives to make our ideas come to life. There are no hidden agendas or costings with Build7, all contractor quotes were provided to us. We really appreciated this as it made us feel comfortable that we were not being taken for ride, which we know is something that can happen for first time builders. We signed up with Build 7 and were quickly introduced to the rest of the team whose communication was just as good as Jamie's. We had fulfilling and helpful meetings with everyone, from colour consultants through to electricians. Each and everyone of them taking as much pride in their work as Build7 did. We broke ground in September. The build process and communication continued to be absolutely seamless from this point on as we were able to move into our house within 15 weeks; 1 month ahead of schedule. We had regular site meetings throughout the process to ensure we were always fully informed, and if we had any questions about what was going on Jamie was always happy to respond. As first home buyers we feel very lucky to have come across Build7. They went above and beyond throughout the whole experience, including pushing to get us in to our house just before Christmas. Thanks to Build7 we now have a beautiful home and cannot recommend these guys more highly. We can't wait to build another home with Build7 in the future.

James and I had the pleasure of working with Nick and Ashley of AO Architecture while planning the renovation and extension of our 100 year old home in St Albans We had numerous meetings with Nick and Ashley to discuss our project. We wanted our home to be practical and user-friendly, cosy, warm, good looking and to retain much of the original character of the house. The end result is all of that and more and we are extremely happy with it. Nick and Ashley were both determined for their design to meet our needs/wants. At the same time, they were always able to come up with new ideas and solutions when we came across roadblocks. They dealt with the council efficiently (something we wouldn’t have been able to do) and communicated regularly and easily with us. The whole process was smooth and they were both a pleasure to work with. We have ended up with a house that feels like it will be our ‘forever home’. We love it. We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending AO architecture to anyone building or renovating a home. James and Emily

We had the absolute pleasure of working with Jason of Higham Architecture. Living in our home for 2 years now, we are extremely happy with the design he produced for us. We are confident that it not only suits our lifestyle today with 2 small children, it is a design that we can see ourselves enjoying in many years to come. Jason was extremely knowledgeable and approachable with an impeccable eye for detail. We felt confident that Jason took on board our wish list in our first meeting and when he presented us with our first draft he took our vision to a whole new level. We found his communication to be friendly, prompt and professional. Whatever Jason offered or discussed with us, he followed through with and we couldn't ask for better than that. Jason was very respectable of timelines and kept in touch with us throughout our build showing genuine interest in the building process and finishing touches we chose to complete the design. We would have no hesitation in recommending Jason.

Liz and I spent years designing our home and incorporating the things that are important to us. This included the detail of exposed beams in the living area and corbels under the eaves as well as the layout of the whole house. James executed our plans well and we are pleased with the home we now live in. James was an excellent project manager and builder for us. His communication was excellent and meant we were always aware of where we were up to. His ability to tweak things as we went meant we were able to save money and keep the project moving. His attention to detail means we were delivered a house where both the large and small things have been seen to. He coordinated well with subcontractors and trades for our home. I totally recommend James and if we build again would use his services.

Highly recommend working with Joe. As first time new home builders he helped us navigate the building process providing good options and advice during the process, worked well with our builder and even went the extra mile to ensure that council issued our building consent prior to Xmas so we did not have any delays in the build start date. Build was completed on time and on budget. We love our new house :)

We have just completed our second home over a ten year period designed by ADQ architecture with Principal Kurt Lehman. We were very pleased with the first experience and are delighted with the end result on this second occasion. Kurt has an ability to really understand a brief and budget. We loved his creative ideas and sense of size, space and proportion. He has up to date knowledge of the latest building materials and related technologies. And most importantly, he has a very pleasant interpersonal style with a refreshing ability to convey his ideas without imposing his own views.

Fortified homes are an amazing home company. I am thrilled to bits with my new home that was designed for me at no extra cost. I was told it would be a long hard road building but instead Mike & Courtenay made it so easy from start to finish. Mike made it easy to make the budget work and because of this over runs were non existent unlike many other companies. Quality was exceptional for their standard products and the time to build was only 15 weeks from start to finish. I couldn't rate them highly enough!! If you want a great home at a great price with a good honest building company then this is the one you should choose.

Helped us in a very stressful time after the earthquakes to move on and not just planning to repair our house but to improve it in the process. Put us on to a wonderful builder that will see the project move forward. Can't wait for the work to begin!!

I have never seen anyone get more excited about a new building than the people of Redcliffs. I could barely get any work done! The story starts, as so many others in Christchurch, with earthquakes and demolition. The team at Young Architects has close ties to the neighbourhood, and was involved in the rebuild of the community library from the very beginning. They took up the challenge of designing an inviting public meeting space that reflects its community. From the red colour of the building to the gable construction reminiscent of the spines on a bookshelf, the library is a space Redcliffs is very proud of, as I soon learned. Since I happen to live down the road, I did more than my usual share of bullying the client into involving me. I knew the semi-translucent gable would be perfect for blue hour photography once finished. I got really excited picturing the final images in my mind's eye. When Greg Young and I finally toured the library, the degree of pride in the community was almost overwhelming. People stopped us repeatedly in the streets to tell their library stories, express how proud they are, and what a good guy Greg is. There were even a few hugs. While I was shooting the building a little while later, people repeatedly told me how happy they were with their new library. It was touching to see how connected everyone felt with this space. I hope the images will do the project justice.
