Thistle Building Company Limited

Our story began in Scotland in 1999 with a talented young builder, Simon Griffith, winning apprentice of the year. His very first project, an old Scottish school built in 1894 and falling to bits. The joy of bringing that old school house back to life and he was hooked... and so began Thistle Building Company. Simon and Sophie moved back to New Zealand in 2007, achieving an Advanced Trade certificate, a certificate in Ecological Build and Design, and certificates in Business Management and Applied Business Growth. With these qualifications all under his tool-belt, he has grown Thistle from one builder to our fantastic team of eight. Our mission at Thistle is to build beautiful homes that enhance the day-to-day lives of the good people who live in them – and love them!
