We were lucky enough to be introduced to Spin through Refresh Renovations. We were a bit nervous about showing our 1950's built, 70's extended house in Laingholm as it was tired and needed TLC. We knew it had potential, but didn't have the skill to see how... and we desperately didn't want it turned into a white box! Enter Paul and Nicole. We were presented with ideas that felt like they listened to how we live. There was room for us to add and subtract in the plans as the budget allowed. I remember the day we met to view the ideas, and the Spin team suggested we reverse our lounge layout. We looked at each other and said "why did we never think of that!". That evening, I moved it around and felt so excited to embark on this project. Fast forward and we have a light, airy kitchen which delights my partner and enables his spectacular cooking, and a lounge that makes the most of our seaside view. We have a snug, cosy den which turned a walk-through space into somewhere to be together as a family. Thank you for taking our old maiden and turning her into a Dame!

I’m thrilled with the result of my bathroom, laundry and toilet and my vision was translated into something spectacular. We came to Paul after a series of disasters in our planning for our bungalow renovation and we were so pleased we found him! Paul listened to our dilemma, took all the information on board and came to us with realistic and impressive options. Paul was awesome! He was great at listening to our ideas and offering suggestions of his own to complement our thoughts on the designs, and he happily made iterations to the design when we got new ideas throughout the process. Used Nicole to come up with a couple of initial kitchen design options. While the one I selected wasn't Nicole's recommended option she was incredibly helpful in talking through the practical design details, such as distance between objects, drawer size and function etc which made a huge difference to the finished design. She also gave great advice on colours and materials. Highly recommend.

We very much appreciated their flexibility in doing as much or as little a job as required. Paul was more than happy to accommodate our suggested changes to the original design and drafted several options for our consideration. However after further consideration we found his original plan was the best option which we proceeded with. Also, to give us peace of mind he met with us at our kitchen installers factory to make sure the product used in our kitchen was of good quality. Paul and Nicole from Spin Design were introduced to us by Dominic from DJH (Refresh Renovations) who are undertaking our renovation work. Paul was brought in early on, to create the concept for our reno; updated kitchen, an overhaul of our laundry, and new ensuite and wardrobe addition. Paul's design was thoughtful, he understood just what we wanted, he was conscious of costs and he quickly identified design ideas I hadn't thought of. The collaboration between him and DJH was very smooth. I knew early on that I wanted Nicole's help with the interior design and I'm so thankful we engaged her at the start! Nicole has made the entire renovation process so much easier through her careful and detail oriented design. Without her interior design plans upfront, I would have been faced with a myriad of questions and decisions to make on the spot. Given Spin Design work closely with DJH, our project manager Rebecca could simply call Nicole for any question she had, as everything had been decided upfront. It also made cost estimates more detailed and so we knew more of our costs before starting than if we hadn't had a detailed interior design plan. Nicole has picked everything; right down to the kitchen handles, tap and back door handle, all of which I'm already getting compliments for. I have often felt throughout this process that Nicole could read my mind - everything she chose was perfect, and far better than what I could have sourced. Like Paul, her design is thoughtful, considerate of the house's character we want to keep and always with an eye to cost too. I can't speak highly enough of Paul and Nicole. Alongside DJH (Refresh), our renovations have been smooth and actually enjoyable! We were introduced to Nicole by Jim at KKG Ltd (Refresh Renovations - who did the renovation work). With such a large project it was great to have the design expertise of Nicole, particularly for our kitchen and bathrooms. We had some ideas of the products we wanted to use, but had difficulties envisioning how it was going to look and fit into our space. Nicole listened and understood what we wanted and with her design eye highlighted things we didn’t see. Her expertise in how the kitchen would flow and its functionality was invaluable. The kitchen has been designed into a beautiful contemporary space which is one of our favourite rooms of the house where our family spends most of our time. With the bathrooms we had limited space, so we were very pleased that Nicole was able to design and utilise the space more efficiently. We are delighted with the results of the kitchen and bathrooms and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Spin Design to other potential clients.

Our project was a full scale re-build of a double storey house in Onehunga. We engaged with Nicole at Spin Design quite early on to help us with our interior & exterior decor decisions - she has helped us with so much more giving us a few suggestions of design adjustments on our build plans along the way. The reverse brief from her was thorough and clearly showed she had understood what we were wanting to achieve aesthetically but also understood that with a toddler in the house it needed to be practical. There is so much choice out there but with her guidance we haven't felt overwhelmed and she's always been available to give us her advice and recommendations Such great value for money, we would happily recommend Spin Design. We had an amazing experience with Spin Design. Our 1920's bungalow was getting too small for us as our children got older. We went from 3 smallish bedrooms, 1 bathroom and little lounge to 3 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a large open plan living area with new kitchen. It has made the world of difference to us. My wife and I had 'matrimonial differences' about our colour scheme both inside and out. After Nicole sat with us and heard us out, she sent us about 50 images of other houses so we could see what the finished job would look like. It was not a co-incidence that my wife and I both chose the same 2 colour schemes for inside and out - Nicole really nailed our personalities and what we wanted our renovated home to look like. The job is done and we are loving what we have created.

Nicole worked with us to reconfigure a problem area in our house - A pokey bathroom, laundry and bedroom which had never functioned well, lacked storage space and were unattractive. She was able to think outside the square and came up with a very clever redesign solution that overcame all the issues - A very minor expansion of the footprint expanded and modernized the bathroom, gave the bedroom a decent-sized wardrobe and more useable floor space, and produced a very functional hidden laundry. We had looked at this area ourselves for years and could never see an answer. Nicole also designed a new kitchen to replace a dated one and again came up with a clever and innovative design that expanded storage space and enhanced functionality. While we did not in the end go ahead with the planned renovation (moved house instead), I would not hesitate in recommending Nicole as being a designer who listens and collaborates rather than dictates, is a clever lateral thinker, is enormously patient and finally but importantly, is a really pleasant person to work with.

Nicole was recommended to us by our Architect. Nicole has been amazing through our whole kitchen renovation project. She is so personable, reliable and amazingly patient. I contacted Nicole who promptly made arrangements to come and visit the house. As I was unsure of the exact style of kitchen I wanted, Nicole was able to offer suggestions that would compliment the style of the house. She compiled several kitchen layouts for me to look at and was always able to offer options and alternatives. Nicole is so patient and so prompt and clear with her communication. She would offer to help me any way I needed, even offering to meet me at places to assist with my choosing of appliances, bench tops, etc. I would highly recommend Nicole.

Nicole is a talented designer who helped us solve our ‘small kitchen in a big house’ problem and get the most out of our space. She is reliable, and has a clear communication style, and was always patient when I changed my mind. She laid out our options and suggested what she felt was the best one without ever being pushy. She worked with the style of our house to design a unique room which was in keeping with the rest of our home. Her knowledge of materials came in very handy and her local connections saved us money. I’ve hired Nicole multiple times – with great results each time. I don’t hesitate in recommending her and would always go to her for my interior design needs. My first and biggest project was to design my loft conversion and have it furnished in a way that allowed the space to be used in multiple different ways – it was to become a guest bedroom/suite but with additional facilities. Nicole was able to design the space in a way that allowed for four different functional areas: sleeping space, relaxing space, small study/desk space and a kitchenette and dining space. Everyone who sees the loft conversion is taken aback by how well it is designed and how great it looks. Everyone is highly complimentary about the design, layout and furnishings. Nicole has superb attention to detail. She’s a great communicator and very personable. She stays within budget and clearly indicates what things will cost and works within any budget given. Her interior design knowledge and ability to apply it has been well proven to me through the projects I’ve hired her for. She’s got a real skill for putting the right things together, in a way that works for the space. She put together interactive 3D drawings that really helped to see what it would look like. At times I wanted Nicole to provide me with options, whereas sometimes I wanted her just to tell me what she thought would work the best. She worked excellently within any remit given. Nicole is an excellent listener and will put your needs first and she can work to any brief. With time, I’ve trusted Nicole more and the last small project I had, I went with Nicole’s recommendation on my feature wall in the front living area and although it pushed me out of my comfort zone and is something I would never have considered on my own, it works fabulously and has really given my main space beautiful character and homeliness. Nicole helped make my home feel like home. The quality of Nicole’s work is to the highest standard. She doesn’t take any shortcuts and checks any work done by contractors. I believe her rates to be reasonable and also believe that the value she adds really makes the “purchase” a true investment. We were recommended Spin Design by Refresh renovations who we commissioned to complete renovations of our 1990 townhouse from the roof down. Initially Nicole consulted to choose a colour palette for the interior. We appreciated her astute observations and suggestions to create a fresh and interesting mix of colours and textures, with a much more unified style throughout the house. When it came time to put in a new kitchen we did not hesitate to ask for Spin to design it. We enjoyed working with Nicole, her warmth and friendliness shines through her very professional approach and we felt that she understood what we valued, practically and emotionally. We are delighted with the finished kitchen - it works very well for us and looks great!

I found getting a large renovation off the ground and started a really hard thing to do, with the biggest challenge being not having a clear view of what I was after. Thankfully Nicole and Paul made that much easier than I envisaged. They quickly picked up what I liked, and didn’t like, and the sort of styling I was thinking of. The design they presented was pretty much spot on the first time around. Some great suggestions on products, and always going the extra effort - I’m sure Nicole pretty much phoned every lighting place in Auckland to find the pendant light I was looking for. Nicole and Paul were introduced to me by Jim Gleeson at Refresh Renovations, who did the works. Together they worked hand in hand really well. I liked the work Nicole and Paul did so much, I brought them back for a second large project, that’s just about to kick off. The design looks great again, and I’m sure I’ll love the end result.

Nicole and Paul completely delivered on our brief. They thought of options we would not have and gave us a very honest assessment of likely costs. In May 2016 we embarked on a major renovation of our 1948 ex-state house in Auckland including addition of a second storey and completely gutting and redoing the original structure. We’re thrilled with the outcome. In the design phase, Paul and Nicole listened to what we wanted to achieve and provided a perfect balance of doing what we were asking, while drawing on their expertise to suggest changes to our thinking. They were also very patient as we changed our minds a few times on our way to final drawings! They then handled all planning requirements, right down to managing a sensitive issue with a neighbour where we needed their consent. As we needed to move out for the duration and weren’t staying close by, it was a great comfort knowing that Paul and Nicole were on hand to keep an eye on things when we couldn’t. Of course it wasn’t all plain sailing but we were very impressed with Paul and Nicole’s approach to problem solving. They have operated with huge integrity and have taken ownership of issues when they’ve arisen and made sure they’re put right – sometimes at their expense. Overall we’re very happy with our house and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Paul and Nicole to any potential client.

I believe my case is a bit different to the others. Since I was remote, my entire home renovation took place while I was in another part of the world (Hong Kong). Paul provided his professional knowledge in details for me to judge what could be done and what could not be done. I would say, with the language barrier and being in another part of the world, it was a seamless experience working with Paul. Indeed, Nicole was just the correct person to touch up with all other renovation details to make the job even more perfect. Ultimately, I feel very comfortable and happy with the renovation, such as new kitchen, new awesome bathroom, perfect wooden floors and personalised wardrobe, and a colour scheme that flows throughout. Therefore, I would certainly recommend Paul and Nicole in terms of their professional knowledge, reasonable on price and a very responsive partner to help you through a stress free design and renovation task.

We have used Paul and Nicole three times now, on renovation projects in two separate properties. On our initial project Paul gave invaluable advice based on his knowledge of products available and the challenges that were likely to be faced with the job. Though it wound up having to be done at a very tricky time of year in order to prepare the house for sale, right before Christmas, it came in on time and on budget. This wouldn’t have happened without Paul fully throwing himself into the job, getting his hands dirty …literally..repeatedly, and marshalling a superhuman effort from the tradesmen involved. It was extraordinary and above and beyond the call of duty. After our first experience we had no hesitation in going straight to Paul and Nicole for our next work which involved a major kitchen overhaul and a partial bathroom renovation. The combination of Nicole’s interior design vision and Paul’s trade nous and technical knowledge is a winner, and their professionalism was top notch throughout, especially when there were a number of the on-the-spot challenges during the project that required quick thought and action.

Paul and Nicole completed the renovation of my first property. I was so pleased with the outcome that I ended up asking them to renovate the next property I purchased. At the time, I had to go for a trip to Europe for around four weeks so I decided to leave everything to Paul. I left him the keys to the house and I did not have any worry as I had full trust in him to sort out everything. After finishing this project, he ended up renovating two of my other properties. I felt really comfortable as both of them knew my style and preference. Paul even went out of his way on so many occasions to help me out with moving houses! I felt that Paul and Nicole were my design and renovation dream team and that I won’t have any second thoughts of asking them to work with me any other properties that I will buy in the future.

I've had the pleasure of utilising the services provided by Spin Design, for a complete project managed package from start (multiple design concepts) and right through to the completion of my bathroom and WC remodel job in 2017. Spin Design made the process incredibly smooth and their communication is top notch, always giving me progress updates and with photos. This review comes quite a few months after the job was complete. This allowed a good amount of time to appreciate the final product, to enjoy the functional and aesthetically driven concepts from design to build and there were no call backs needed. Spin Designs guidance and reassurance (in design, product recommendations etc) and project management execution allowed me peace of mind as I was mostly out of the City during the build stage. The cost was very reasonable and quality of trades people used were skilled in their respective fields from build, installation and finishing presentation of remodel project was very good. Spin Design also took on many misc tasks at my request and you really could not ask for anything more from them, I know I have missed out on all the great things I should say. Spin Design was recommended by a neighbour who recently had work done. We were planning a bathroom upgrade but confused by the many products, finishes and colours available. Our home also needed redecoration so we engaged Nicole who visited our house promptly. Shortly after she presented us with us with plans and a display board showing tiles, paint colours, carpets, window dressings and bathroom fittings. We have been delighted with our bathroom renovation. Our redecorated rooms look great and the paint colours, blinds and carpet blend perfectly with our existing furnishings.
