“Very professional company. You will get an estimate promptly and it will be detailed including both labor and materials. It was very helpful to know exactly what the cost would be and the price was very reasonable. The crew showed up promptly for work, were courteous and finished on time. They did all the prep work needed to assure that our paint will last much longer than it did previously. From power washing, caulking, painting decks, house trim and the garage floor, we were very pleased with the results. It has taken us 3 years to find someone that we can recommend. Thanks to J. M. East Painting for a job well done!”

“We have used Crain Brothers for several painting projects over the last 4 years. They promptly respond by phone or email to requests for quotes. Appointments are easily made and flexible. Tim arrives on time, walks through and inspects the areas requesting to be painted. He points out areas of concern, reaffirms what it is that you want, makes suggestions and pros/cons of choices if there are any. He tries to provide the most economical options. He informs you how many workers will be needed for the job and total time frame required. He will provide a written detailed quote while on site which includes labor and paint costs. Crews arrive at an appointed time, inform you when they are leaving, clean up before they leave and take away any trash. They walk around with you when they are finished and address anything that you have concerns about--and we didn't have any. We work from home and their presence for both indoor and outdoor jobs did not disrupt us. They make great paint suggestions appropriate for the area you need painted, pointing out pros/cons of various options. If they run into issues during a job, they consult with you right away and will offer to fix/repair if they can. If they can't they will tell you. One of the brothers is usually assigned to the paint crew and is present throughout the job. The other checks in periodically to assess progress. All members of the crew are friendly and professional. The outside trim of our house needed serious attention. We are in central NC where summer heat and humidify take a serious toll on painted wood. After pressure washing the house, as they began to tackle painting the trim, areas where wood was rotten and crumbling were noted and even termites were discovered on a shaded area of the house. It was immediately brought to our attention and exterminators called right away. After consulting with us, the painters removed all the rotten wood and replaced it with a non-wood material--good as new, easier than having to find a carpenter, and didn't hold up the paint job waiting to bring in an outside person to do the repair. The adjusted price for this entire job was well within reason and much better than had we had to find outside people to the additional carpentry work. We have had all the windows in our house replaced over the past 2 years. Crain Brothers painted the indoor trim on all windows and repaired any dings and touch ups required from having the windows removed. We have also had them paint various rooms throughout our house and inside and out of our screened in porch which is on the main floor of our house above a walk-out basement level. They are due to start on another project for us in the next few weeks. This will include the final window installation trim work, a bonus room, a ceiling that was damaged by a water leak, sanding/staining the floor surface of a multi-tier deck and sanding/painting MANY chippendale-style spindles. I am very pleased with the quote for this job and am so thankful that I don't have to tackle the outdoor job myself (as I have done before)!”

“I hired James to do the following: 1. Remodeling work with upstairs bedroom, which necessitated tearing down a wall, relocating a closet, and adding a new overhead light 2. Entrance widened and put new door on laundry room, to make it more functional 3. Wooden floors in upstairs bedroom, great room, kitchen, hallway refinished, including some repair work 4. interior walls repainted 5. Deck and skylights pressure washed and gutters cleaned, in addition to other various odds and ends James was recommended to me by my plumber, who is excellent. My plumber is from Raleigh and said that James is the only person he will do contract work for in the Chapel Hill area because of the quality of his work. I interviewed two other contractors, but ultimately trusted my plumber's judgment and could not be happier with the result. First off, the price was very reasonable. Several years ago, I got a preliminary estimate on the remodeling of upstairs bedroom and that alone was estimated to be $10,000. However, for that same price, James did the remodeling, refinished and repaired my wooden floors, worked on my laundry room and painted most of the interior of my home, in addition to other odds and ends. Second, James was very professional and very responsive. He has a small crew and and he takes pride in quality work, and any issues that are found are addressed immediately. I found it very easy to communicate with James by phone and text. Because of the quality of his work, I asked him to do several add-on jobs in addition to the original job. The floors look very nice, the upstairs bedroom looks much more spacious and very nicely done, and the paint job was excellent. After my last paint job (with another painter), I had to paint sooner than I anticipated, and the walls looked all scuffed up. James looked at the paint the last painters used and told me they had used a lower quality paint, and that he used a higher quality of paint that should last longer, and indeed, it definitely looks better. I absolutely would not hesitate to use James again for a job, and am already planning my next remodeling job with him.”
