Looking good. A sage lightly printed comforter would be more durable with a renter. I think a runner on side of bed would be practical too. If guest room, I prefer full rug. It also helps with noise pollution!

I decided not to move the existing artwork over the bed.

When I replace the mirror, I want to get something lightweight that won’t injure anyone if it fell off the wall while someone is in bed.

I’m thinking of artwork in a very lightweight frame similar to cardboard or plastic. No glass or heavy wood.

@happylegs Thank you for the support! I'm going over to the furniture store later today to sit in a few chairs.

I always second guess myself because I've made SO many mistakes.

i've been followng along on your journey. Agree with much of what DIS says including the odd looking "Alice in Wonderland chair". Re: His point that art "need not be a factor". One area where it definitely can be is in the mood art can convey, so lets not overlook that possibility. Your gorgeous photo elicits a calming, serene mood to me - maybe something else to you. If that is important to someone, then the juxtaposing a riot of bright colors and/or patterns nearby may create a disconnect. It would for me, because I would want to carry that soothing theme throughout. Maybe not at all for you, but I wonder if you have really decided what feeling you want from your rooms and if the photo's effect would play a role.

I agree with Indigo Rose that the serene mood set by the DR photo would be a great thing to keep in mind for both rooms. I love the quiet luxury of DIS's board - it's gorgeous!

I appreciate your encouragement, Flo. 🥰 Your design style is more creative and interesting than mine! I still want a simple Shaker style.

Dsimber, you have a number of smaller decisions to make now, but you have made excellent progress and have a good foundation for going forward. I believe you have picked out the sofa and now you just need to pick out the fabric? And then move on to the chairs or the console I can’t remember the order of operation… the rug will be a big one as well. But cheer up… You’ve come a long ways!

I should get some fleece blankets out of the pile in here and try to roll them under the kittens when I’m feeding them so they may can knead the blanket. AI also suggested to stroke them on their heads and backs as if their mother was tending to them while they nurse. These things seem obvious that I’m thinking to look up different small aspects every time. I did start petting them and I’ve been petting them on their heads and their backs which helps them burp too while they’re feeding. Like I said, I’ve been around cats all my life but never had I bottle fed such young ones. My daughter had that baby goat that the mother rejected, remember Sqidgie? Well, he’s still with them, but that was a different situation because you put a large bottle of goats milk in front of him and he would nearly take it out of your hand whilst feeding and he was standing and walking and actually would fight for it lol. These little ones are a bit different story here.

OK, I just had a brainstorm. If I end up housing kitties that were feral and of course turn pet friendly which most of them do around here I may contact a few of the nursing homes in the area and see if they might want to take one as a house cat. I’ve read articles. This can be very therapeutic for some of the patients. It’s an outlet that I haven’t explored before or perhaps they could go on a fostering pilot type program. I know this sounds terrible, but I may even be able to charge a small fee? Of course I’ll have them vetted and fully vaccinated before I make any contact with an institution like that.

And or cat allergies with the patients or for that matter, even the staff? Oh well, my intentions are always good lol. I’ve been up 2 to 3 times a night with these babies, but I’m doing OK even though it’s only been a few days. I think if I can get past this first week with them, it will be a little bit easier. The nursing staff at the veterinarian hospital instructed me on helping them use the bathroom because their bodies aren’t ready to do that themselves yet so they need help with that. Of course that’s so important. The one that is a tabby and looked to be the runt is doing great, still smaller but seems to be functioning fine but the bigger white one is plump but part of that is that baby hasn’t gone number two yet. I’m doing massages and warm baths and some warm water in between feeding to see if I can move that along because that’s detrimental at their young age. It probably seems silly to care for these little ones like this and I realize I’ve pretty much committed myself so I am going to do my best at least get past this first week or two, then I think we will all 😝 be in a better position here.

Also, if you do have a shredder, it will last much longer if you buy the shredder lube paper! I know that sounds a little personal, but it really does make a difference.

Ha I got a picture today from my daughter through a text. Of course I had to say what am I looking at? She was driving the big dump truck for the first time by herself. There’s no stopping her now lol.

@Barbara McKeon I reread your post plus your additional comments. I take it that you and your significant other are comfortable sitting next to each other on a love seat watching TV? @kateinparadise never got back to you on the one she showed you. This may be it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GSYT6W5W?lv=shuf&channelId=425&plpRedirect=mhFallback

The swivel chairs were for company? Can you get by with just one other swivel chair by the big window? Do you like the shape of this chair and ottoman? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GWM62ZMJ?lv=shuf&channelId=500&plpRedirect=mhFallback They are displaying it against a green wall. I've been using SW Rock Bottom as my green, love it with blue, and will use it more.
@Jan Moyer glad to see you are embracing dark wall colors. What blue is that? I am using SW Charcoal Blue, love it and plan to use it more. In the attached , I even used it on the ceiling, because this room is intended to be used at night. For day use, I prefer a light ceiling color. I agree that a dark wall color would be great in this TV room to reduce contrast between the TV and the wall, to reduce reflection from opposite walls, to highlight the view outside when not watching TV, and to enhance wall art. If the same dark color were used in both this room and behind the armoire it would also reduce the contrast between the wall and the armoire, connecting it to the room and adding perceived spaciousness, while not forcing a commitment to repaint the whole house.
All types of lights have their place. For this TV room, currently there are table lamps that are not diffused and could reflect off the TV when in use. I have found that opaque down-lights and up-lights interfere least with TV viewing. Horizontal lighting is best if diffused and on the same wall as the TV, to the side, and on dimmers. I would stick to up lights and downlights if possible while watching TV. Wafer lights are ideal in passageways, bathrooms, kitchens and require wiring.
I agree that nice window treatments are helpful. I'd love to see your ideas, @Jan Moyer for the Barbara's TV room.

Thank you all. Sorry if my room is boring 😞. Yes the dark furniture is clunky looking. and was not my first choice long story about that but it's going so does not matter now. Nothing in the current room is staying except the TV. As for the amoire if I wanted to get a photo of the entryway then it wound up in the picture but it actually does not appear as it does in the photo. The "rug" will be bigger. I don't want a coffee table for a number of reasons so will work with side tables.

Though I like the idea of a different wall color, I just had the room and hallway repainted due to a bad leak we had about a year ago before we planned to get new furniture so I am not repainting. Considering that, what color LS and chairs would work here. To clarify I will have a plan before I buy re size placement I just don't plan to buy everything at once.

@JAN MOYER this is what you do for a living so all is second nature to you. Some people have a gift for decorating. :) It's obviously not me. I don't have the ability to "see" things in a room or maybe how they should go together. One of the reasons I am on this site. I bought my current furniture set tables etc only to feel it was too chunky for the room after the fact. So going slow this time. I agree two 84 inch sofas can look completely different in the same space. I may like something but it might not be right for the room or for the other pieces in the room. I envy people who can just look at items and see how they can go together where I never would have thought.

So again thank you all for your suggestions. So a start for the loveseat I like the Flexsteel Finley (thank you @katinparadise for pointing me to Flexsteel) or something similar as I like a flat back. just need to figure out best colors now for the room then the side chairs and I have a start. Thank you for your patience.

Sorry about the typo I was my tablet having issues. I was trying to say that's nice!

My h would love those colors. He loves orange and all kinds of earth tones. I am not a fan of orange at all. I guess if we did a saddle color on the loveseat the chair could be that light color but the rest of the room colors are not for me. It works though and is beautifulIy put together. It's similar to the room I showed but I guess more rusty color.

The colors are not to my taste though. I do like the color of the sofa and my walls are a creamy off white. I did say re the other room needed a different rug to punch it up which Emily did beautifully.

I have relatively new vertical blinds. I see how color on the windows would help pull things together. Not sure I can add a shade though. Perhaps some kind of valance.

kl23 Not sure what you mean about Emily's mock up giving me a footrest. I don't see one.

I still can't decide on fabric over leather. We have had some issues with our current leather furniture. Yet is I think maybe more durable than fabric? The loveseat will get a lot of use as this is where we hang out. I've a more formal living room where we entertain when guests are over so this room is for us. I don't like to entertain where there is a TV. When we go to see others who do, the TV is on and it's not a visit. People get distracted by the TV. Anyway that's my pet peeve.

Emily TY. I don't know how you did that but it looks so much like my room. I think I would go with a different rug though. I like the barrel chair but it may be too small for my brother and my stepson who would be the ones sitting in it. They are 6ft and large.

Sounds like a very nice idea and plan.

For the entertainment unit: Instead of painting the back or replacing the back, you can just use foam core board for this. You can cover the foam board with wallpaper or fabric, and push it up against back of the shelves. It’s easy; plus, if/when you want a different look, it’s easy to change.

ETA: Amazon has many foam board offerings, in various sizes, etc.

You could use grass cloth on the drawer fronts to break up the look of solid black.

For decor items, I would try to avoid rectangular items. You have a lot of that already. I'd put another 2 plants in top of the cabinet, and replace the rectangular decor items with items with texture and rounded shapes.
