Hi there - thank you for your compliments The bench (steel frame) is lined with New York marble, in a honed finish. So yes, it is a pure, natural surface x

love the simple nature of this fireplace with large "shelf", wide black fireplace... love the separation of top and bottom spaces ... and a open side space for tv, though proportions of that tv to the fireplace are not good.
