George House (Certified Passive House)
The brief for this new home was simple - to be warm and comfortable.
The George’s knew of the passive house principals through the Grand Design tv program from the UK, and we're inspired and convinced that this was a good way to build.
This is the first building in the south island to be Certified Passive House.
Originating from the warmer climates of NZ, the George family were after the warmth of their origins, with the alpine surrounds.
The house is compact, but with expansive interiors with strong visual connections to the sites landscaping and near mountains. The house is constantly warm, with fresh air, draught and condensation free.
Clad in cedar and stained to compliment the colours of the surrounding mountains, the interior are a combination of crisp whites and warm timbers.
Happy happy.
