Malo + Smith & Sheth - Retractable Shade & Ziptrak Screens
THE PROJECT
Both Malo and Smith & Sheth have perfectly located patios in the courtyard of the Porter’s hotel complex in the heart of Havelock North. The courtyard is a great place to relax away from the busy street, just steps away. The sun trap is great on winter days but often too hot for the Hawke’s Bay summer and too cool in the evenings.
The two companies wanted a full weather covered outdoor area to expand their service area to avoid cancelling bookings due to bad weather.
Guests enjoy the setting. Rolled up clear PVC sides provide flexibility.
THE DOUGLAS INNOVATION SOLUTION
The flexibility of an Oztech retractable roof fit the needs of both Malo and Smith & Sheth.
The fully retractable roof allows them to use the space as outdoor al fresco dining area when the weather suits. With the ability to fully expand at the push of a button and with inbuilt LED lighting, the patio transforms seamlessly for evening customers. They have the best of both worlds.
The olive green outdoor fabric was chosen to go with the lush greenery and hedges around each business as well as fitting with the company colours, green and black.
Malo chose to add clear PVC pull-down Ziptrak® screens to provide a fully enclosed area on cooler evenings.
