Life in a Modern Farmhouse With a Husband-and-Wife Design Duo
At the beginning of 2019, design-build pros Laurel and David Mullikin of Infinite Home helped NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson surprise his mom with a dream renovation of her kitchen, living room and dining room. This week, Houzz video producer Rick Spence had a virtual chat with the Mullkins to talk about how things are going since they started running their business from their home in Suwanee, Georgia. They share the modern farmhouse-style house with their two sons. Learn how they’re navigating these uncertain times, and get some design tips along the way.

Thanks for a great interview. Hope that you do more of them. Loved seeing the designers home especially the kitchen and coffee/drinks area. Interesting that they put 14" upper cabinets in the kitchen. As a retired chef who still cooks a lot I have done many of my own kitchens each time we moved. I love having 30" lower cabinets so I get more counter space but leave the top cabinets at 12" so I don't hit my head when working at the counter. Those few inches mean a lot. Also we are big fans of the hot water tap. I use it many times during the day. We have had one in every house we owned but unfortunately they don't last and either burn out or the top handle breaks. Every style they have made we have owned. The one we have now is the same as in the video with the hot water and filtered water.

Great interview idea in this crazy time. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The best advice and something I've been struggling with is to re-start projects we've let go. For example, and for laughs, the living room ceiling that incurred smoke damage above the fireplace when the flu accidentally closed. I Binned a quarter of the ceiling and never got around to repainting. I'm on it!!!
