Daily Bread Point Chevalier — Winner ADNZ Commercial Award 2020
The transformation of Point Chevalier's iconic former bank building into one of Auckland's most loved neighbourhood bakeries and cafés.
The neo-classical building presented a unique design challenge — strict adherence to modern building codes, a complete structural upgrade and full commercial kitchen fitout, while restoring the building's original architectural features and character. Utilitarian elements were thoughtfully adapted rather than concealed, custom steel joinery was introduced throughout, and a new outdoor seating area was created to extend the hospitality offering to the street.
The project was delivered in three stages, completing in 2020 — a careful, considered restoration that gave a heritage building a confident new purpose.
