Recommendations for seed starting medium please
I started gardening for fun about 2 years ago. I have a 3' x 5' plot in my back yard that I use for veggies and sometimes flowers. This summer, I want to grow some tomatoes, which apparently need to be started from seed--something I know little about.
Which soil medium is best to start seeds in? Or, at least, what medium do you personally prefer to use? Right now, I have some tomato seeds in some Jiffy peat pellets, and some others in starter pots with Jiffy organic seed starting mix (apparently, all the stores in my area really like the Jiffy brand). Is this a good start? I have heard that normal garden soil is not the best thing to use for starting plants indoors--is this true? Is there another brand/mixture/medium that I should invest in?
I only planted these seeds two days ago, so obviously nothing's sprouting yet, but I want to get it right the first time!
