Shutters sound like they would be a great addition to your new almost at the beach house. Is it an open concept? If so while you can change things up a bit you'll want to repeat some element and ensure that everything looks great together. Even the rooms you're thinking of putting drapes in might benefit from shutters or wood blinds for both looks and light/privacy control. Also be aware of how these windows will look from the outside. When choosing fabrics look at your existing furniture for inspiration or a piece of existing art or if buying new furniture think about the windows as you do. Everything in the room ties into each other. Ideally you would have swatches and samples of every finish in the room from flooring to window coverings and everything in between including wall colour, area rugs, bedding ect to help make your final decisions easier.

Hi, Both comments above are what I would do. A Roman blind in the same fabric as your main window will tie the two different windows. See the picture, where I had a small window in an awkward space in the dining room, next to a large window. Keeping the same fabric helps continuity where the windows are vastly different sizes.

I have a weird shaped window that I am having difficulty solving. I need to be able to control the light, while still being able to see out. The room gets cold in winter (south facing), and hot in summer (gets sun early morning and late afternoon). I need to control the light so my fabric and paper don't fade, need the lovely even light for working, and have a lovely view from my desk. Venetians or vertical blinds would be perfect except for the angles. Any suggestions?

I have never bought window coverings before and need help on where and what to buy. I have a modern style and value light coming through and a little privacy. I like the idea of roller blinds or those blinds that open from the top and bottom in the living area. And then doing blackout shades in the bedroom. Where would you recommend getting blinds that are reasonably priced? Has anyone had experience with Lowe’s, ikea or blinds.com?
