Great house. The door looks the wrong era? A beautiful timber shiplap suits that style. Landscaping too.

The door canopy suits the house. The wall hangings, the front door and the lack of landscaping is what strikes me as causing the main problems.

We want to change the door to a pivot door, exposed aggregate for the driveway and garage door but we feel that the door canopy need to go but with what?

I would keep the door canopy and go with black framed front door to go with existing sidelight. Just an FYI that pivot doors are very hard to seal so if you have wind or weather coming in you could choose similar dimensions in regular hinged door.

I would do the changes you’ve planned and then reevaluate the canopy. It does protect from some weather and suits the house. A replacement would need to relate to the pitch and style of the current roof and in all likelihood be very similar to what is there.

Keep the canopy, it suits the home. Definitely needs the actual door changed. Large pivot would be fabulous.

Remove the spiders from the front walls. Why do you want more hard surface? Are there lots of cars that need parking? Add more garden and minimise the hard surface. You have a great house.

A black door like this would really suit the home.

If you don't like sloping porch roof you could replace it with horizontal to pick up bar in windows also replace stars on walls with planting & paint 2nd storey black

Agree on removing metal artwork, it detracts from your beautiful house, add a black pivot door, plant up your garden, paint all trims black, gorgeous planters or planter at door, the door canopy is great, it suits the house perfectly .

Love the door Kate, but I still love the angled canopy, but it’s great you are giving options, we are so lucky to have wonderful people and fab ideas on this forum.

We all want change sometimes. Whether it’s curly hair or straight. I like the flat canopy as it picks up the windows. And brick pattern. I’d change the door first though. Cheapest change for most impact but won’t change the view as you drive in.

We have the same Vintage house ours had double doors with curved leadlight panels which we changed to plain double doors there was. plenty of light coming from the internal courtyard to the right. We are painting external at the moment but had to stop due to rain

I would remove the glass side light as there will be enough light coming in through the highlight window this would also give privacy and security is there enough depth for a large pivot door to swing

Thank you so much for your inputs. I was holding off on the door till we know what to do with the canopy, we will go with Kate’s idea and also change the door. The landscape designer has only selected a ground cover as per photo, but again we can’t get many plants on the design.I will take the metals down and share.

I think the angle of the carport roof makes the door canopy look wrong and think Kate's flat design will be perfect.  
Also agree lots of greenery to soften the front

I presume the driveway isn't finished? And I'm not sure about the contrast of the new walls?

no we have a long way to go, it will be black exposed aggregate

I'd do the new walls in monument or something to match the trims

Really wouldn’t that be too much dark any suggestions about this?

Light blue? How does that tie in with the existing house colours? I'm not sure I can picture it, it's like two separate things going on? There's nothing wrong with a dark colour scheme if it works. I think it works well with lots of greenery, that's what I feel is missing, a sense of lushness which really enhances that style of house.

I love the new walls, with the black aggregate driveway, architectural foliage and it will look stunning.

The choice of pool copping and the tiles is another problem since we gone light blue pool tiles.

I thought we were talking about the facade. If there is a pool on the other side then that's something else. Is the wall on the left the outside of the pool. I think it still needs to tie in with the facade from that side.
