Boring house looking for ideas on how to update
Comments (32)Hi definitely remove the x bars on the deck balustrade. Landscape close to the house so it grounds the house. Trees will make it look less bare. Chose some that work for your area, that are evergreen, and are not going to grow really big. With a really plain house - dark colors will make it look better. Dark Grey, or black with a warm tone so it doesn't have a blue undertone in it. Make sure it is a warm grey or black. Use green foliage around it. Paint out the pergola in the dark grey too or white if you want a different look. Fill in the balustrade where the x is removed with plants in front of those areas. Grow a vine up the pergola that is nice....See MoreHow do I design my living room around this chandelier?
Comments (22)As chookchook said in her recommendation about painting, put a drop cloth on the floor. Get a very safe ladder. remove the lightbulbs, and cover the outlets. Turn off the electricity to the chandelier. Then spray it with a mild cleaner (I use one I found at Target that's basically water with vinegar, until it's dripping wet. Start at the bottom and work your way up, so you don't have dirty spray dripping on the bottom of the chandelier.Work your way up and down until the dripping spray is clean. The chandelier may be gorgeous and expensive, but it seems totally out of place in the architecture of the room--more at home in a chalet than a sunny room with a window wall. I would probably try to find a way to get it removed, and sell it to someone who appreciated it better than I....See MoreA tiny kitchen and dining that feeds a family of 10.
Comments (3)I would for sure spend the money to remove the wall and I think the idea of a large island with stools is great if you have the space it is hard to tell from the pics a floor plan woulf be very helpful and maybe some more pics from different perspectives also....See MoreWould you rather a freestanding or built-in bath?
Comments (7)I can't help but wonder how a freestanding bath looks after a year or two of trying to clean behind and under them. Also we have large trees and a lot of spiders. They often hang out in the bathroom. Nuff said!...See Moreeverdebz
