Bedroom design - Help!

What would you do for nightstands and a dresser in this room? (Note, this is in Southwest FL, if that helps)

What style(s) are you going for? So many possibilities. You can use more black furniture or mix woods or even use painted furniture. It just depends on the look you’re after.

I have a black panel bed with carvings that are very lightly rubbed like yours; I have Mexican pine furniture with it that I rubbed ebony stain on.

To give more specific suggestions, we need more info and context.

So you're going for the British Colonial style for this room.

You can place a double dresser across from the bed and though you provided only severely distorted images of the room, it looks as though there might be room for two small nightstands on either side of the bed.

Do your bed posts provide you with the option to reduce the height of the posts at the footboard? I'd consider doing that.

Do you only have one piece to the set, or can you purchase or locate additional matching pieces? You could coordinate with some dark rattan-style furniture.

I would add drapery panels and a unique ceiling fan to the room.

Now for Mr 16 months... I really can't decide. His room is going to be on the cold side of the house, with not so much sun so I want it to get that cozy sort of feeling when you come into it. Hi Bradford Rice, I understand that it can be difficult to decorate for someone this age. The best place for you to start is to specifically ask him some leading inquisitive questions like, "What do you like to do most?" "Whats your favourite part of your room and your least favourite?" If you can find an item which is dear to him (like his guitar, or playstation remote; yes I did say that! or favourite sweatshirt) then this gives you a springboard to build from. There are some amazing wallpapers out there (check out Mr Perswall graffiti range, or distressed timber board wallpaper) which without too much investment can transform a room quickly. Try to simplify your colour palette and limit it to just a couple of colours, dirty pinks are in vogue along with greys, and animal skins, remember that bedding colours bring a whole new feel to a room and if it lacks natural light keep the colours masculine but subdued with a taupe linen bedspread. Incorporate some chunky texture if you can by way of a thick weaved carpet rug or woven rustic lamp shade, and some shelving storage to encourage him to pick his stuff up off the floor! You all are amazing! The room is pretty cramped, so I have trouble getting a full shot with the door on. So, is it okay to do all matching furniture in there? If not, adding a pine or distressed white, to blend more with the walls? I wasn't sure if I'd be putting too much black in there

It really is personal preference. I think all black is fine, and I think mixing it up is, too. :)

The room looks to be very light and airy, so if you like the look of all black, I don’t think it would be too much at all.

Again, the overall style you’re going for is the main factor.

How about you draw the room - walls windows, entry etc and add every single dimension? Upload the hugely informative drawing, with those feet and inches in a jpeg format below, bold neat and legible? Right below in a comment box.

It's a king bed? It's a primary or guest bedroom? There will be a tv? Yes/no? Etcetera. : )

I totally agree. :)

I think a lot of people (myself included) struggle with what furniture to have with certain styles of black beds, so I like sharing photos I’ve saved … for OPs and others who might be in the same boat. Just for inspiration.
