Where do I start?
I have a 70s brick home hapoy with the inside renos and now I’m in need of how to improve the front. The concrete will come up and due to the tree roots from the neighbours, I think I’ll need to gravel the driveway because if I pave, I’ll have the same probs. Need some advice about colour choice for exterior windows and wood work and what to use on the porch instead of those tiles Also the side wall is very boring and very hot in the summer. Any ideas for the garden landscaping would be appreciated please!

HOWEVER, you mentioned that this drawing is not a true depiction of the furniture you will use and the wallpaper. if that is the case, i think the wall paper can work on either wall, it all depends on how busy this wallpaper is and how "plain" the bed is. if you go with a busy wallpaper behind the bed, you may want to keep your bed and bedding on the minimal side so that there is a good visual balance to the overall composition. if you go with snazzier bedroom furniture, then a busy wallpaper may be a bit much and you may want to put it on the other wall or use a textural option to serve as the bed's background rather then another focal point....See Moreneed help redecorating
Comments (1)If you are going to 'inherit' the drapes, then I would work around them. Paint your room a gray and try to find a white comforter with a blue similar to the drapes. Add a picture over your bed that ties in the blues in the room. If you don't end up with the drapes try some different colors to compliment but not match the bright blue carpet and your black furniture. Another option is to buy a large area rug to cover most of the blue carpet ( but would still allow you to see the edge. That way the bright blue plays a minor part in the decorating scheme. Comments (1)Paint your house and ceiling first. You are probably asking for trouble if you put the floors down only to paint over the top of them. If you can, remove the tiles in the kitchen and paint just behind the line of the splashback too. Once painting is done replace kitchen benchtop then splashback. I would call the bathroom its own job and do it individually, unless you only need to paint the ceiling and if a tiler doesn't need to be brought in for anything else in the house? A lot of bathrooms now are getting tiled from floor to the ceiling if this is the case, paint the ceiling first, then tile. If walls need to be painted, it wouldn't really matter if you did them first or last, though if you did it first expect to do some touch-ups. I guess if you really wanted, you could do the first coat before tiles then second after... I don't exactly like stopping and starting painting, so I would do the walls (if they needed to be done) in one hit, after its been tiled. Well that's the order in which I would do everything... 2 years agoGreat suggestions regarding the tree , a root barrier is a great idea, because it has so many leaves during autumn a gravel driveway will require a lot of work keeping it looking great, (invest in a ryobi blower, love the crazy paving idea, you could extend the porch a little using decking, add vertical slats to fence would tie it together and look beautiful, adding a lovely setting and some fabulous pots and it could look great. Keeping trims white would compliment the look .
