Introducing: Houzz Smartz™
New AI-enabled Houzz products empower homeowners with design help
Houzz
1 April 2016
Houzz Smartz™ is a collection of artificial intelligence-integrated pillows, tables, chairs and lamps that are not only stylish, but also help your home look and feel its best. The products are available today exclusively on Houzz.
Toss a Houzz Smartz™-enabled pillow on your sofa the wrong way, and the pillow will issue a verbal reminder – “Fluff me” – and give a resounding “That’s better” when the task is complete. Worried that your coffee table isn’t in the right place? “Slide me to the right,” the Houzz Smartz™ table chimes if your space planning is a bit off. And if at your next dinner party guests get a little sloppy, the table will command: “Please, use a coaster.”

Houzz AI technology powers the product line and instills within each item a digital personality that’s design-savvy and knows etiquette. Houzz Smartz™ sensors detect dirt, smudges and wrinkles, and alert you to necessary upkeep. Plus, the products were designed with Houzz’s global community in mind and can speak seven languages. The idea is that your home looks perfect every day, even after your designer leaves. You might also find that the products provide companionship.

“With Houzz Smartz™ technology, your furniture and accessories will help make those final adjustments so your home is always at its best,” says Deepa Ramachandran, director of Houzz AI Technology. “It’s not just how your home looks that matters – it’s how it feels.”

Actually, it would be somewhat theraputic. When one of your pillows or other talking artifacts nags you, you can calmly blow it away with your shotgun and heave a great sigh of relief, pour some scotch, sit down and relax. The other artifacts will be afraid to speak.
