I have a white apron sink with whitish marble look quartz countertops, but with a dark stain, quartersawn oak cabinets. If you are going with the darker Grimslov cabinets I think this would look nice, the contrast between the dark and light of the sink and counter. If you are going white on the cabinets, I would consider a somewhat darker or more contrasting counter, something that looks nice with your cherry floors perhaps

Black and White kitchen- I like the cabinetry, grout lines, hardware, warm wood accents. I'd prefer darker counters and enclosed upper cabinets.

Black and white kitchen- this example is more what I'm envisioning in terms of cabinetry and tile work. (Though I do not care for the black backsplash on the wall.)

Another example of black and white. I like the warmth of this island (though we are going to have my father in law custom make a counter height table).

Blue and White example. I had a hard time finding pics with the right shade- many were too aqua/ tropical looking or too light. I like the grayish blue here and think it would strike the right tone with the rest of our house, perhaps even more than a black and white scheme. Not sure how I feel about hardware, backsplash, but I do like white countertops with these cabinets. Wondering if blue in uppers would be 'too much.'
