Maybe use Crossfit stuff on the wall and seal it with a heavy duty sealer of some kind or sheet of Plexi. But the Plex would get scratched and not look great over time...?

Like the texture that is created with this tile and I think it comes in dif color ways. it may seem busy though depending on the colors of the tile and grout.
