Set/stage – unique takes a story-telling role by incorporating lighting, high creativity, illusions of depth, sense of place. But created as spaces within spaces keeping in mind that the actions of the actors and stories will be at play with the visuals of the set.

Acoustical – acoustical design can influence the mood and function of a space in many ways: channeling sound (lecture hall), carrying tones (concert hall), masking conversations (restaurants) removing unwanted sounds (recording areas). not a common field for ID people, but Highly sought after. Designers may hire acoustic consultants to augment interior design teams of other specialties.

Color consultant: pull together every other element of design. Color consultants influence entire palette for the spaces including not just walls and floors, but fabrics, materials lighting art pieces and more. historic considerations or preservation aeras include color as method of keeping a building in its context.

Restaurant – strong theming styles. Should tell a story and define not just the users’ spaces but how they’ll feel while they are in them. Design can create beauty without encouraging lengthy stays.

Museum – layout is unique in its ability to be a supporting actor highlighting the stories showcased within. The end goal is to synergize the experience of the users, guests and staff.

Furniture can be the most tactile and interacted with elements of any design, but it is also the first and primary aesthetic element that occupies a space. Furniture can drive a sense of style.

Historic preservation: allows the age of a building to be a focal point rather than a detriment by maintaining the original designs plans, schemes, materials and colors. It places the buildings design in proper context.

Residential- places where people live. (Often a small group) Meet clients needs and functions. Multiple functions depending on room. Specialized areas include: living areas, Bedroom, Offices, and nurseries.

LIGHTING: Can be very bold, but often may not even be notced as a design element. Could be hidden or could be strategic use of how and where natural lighting interacts in the space. Fewer people in this specialty.
