ROMAN - the couch / daybed is a take on the roman approach to sitting in the space where you sleep. The compfort level seems to be miles beyond the horsehair padding, but general feel is very similar.

ENGLISH BAROQUE - Wow. Talk about "wingback." The end chairs in this set flair the wingback style out in s amanner that almost feels as if the chair creates its own space apart from the rest of the room. It seems to go beyond the period pieces I saw, but still manages to update it with the simplified leg structure.

GREECE - the dental details on the moudlings around the ceilings in this room give a nod back to greek details. The room doesn't look very Greek otherwise.

ENGLISH RENAISSANCE - the chair and foot rest in the left of the picutre have the turned manufacturing appearance of the English renaissance work (I'm thinking specifically of the featured corener chair from the lecture) but it has been re-styled and fully upholstered to be far more invitiing and comformatble.

BAROQUE (FRANCE) - this table amplifies the image of intense marquetry of the Baroque style but only hints at the design style. Some curves are in there, but they are comparatively quite subdued.

ROCOCO - this bed takes the curves of rococo and removes the intricacy to leave only an homage to the overall shape of rococo headboards.

VICTORIAN - the entire room is a colorful upate on the ecclectic Victorian style, but the couch with its modern striaght lines makes strong use of the button tufting upholstery of the victorian style.

ARTS & CRAFTS - this coffee table takes the strong post and lentle (cross-beam) consturction of arts & crafts and moernizes it without the upfront joinery elements or details. It is placed in a setting without any other arts & crafts elements.

ART NOUVEAU - the legs of this table bring out a fowing natural vine-like feel. They look a lot like the flowing gowns and hairstyles of the art posters of the art nouveau era.

MODERNISM - these charis have the shape and sensibility of the post-war plexiglass formed chairs, but add an element of comfort through the padding.

ART DECO - the use of strong straight lines on this tub evoke the squared off horizontal nature of the art deco movement into a typically very rouneded furnishing. The rest of the room pulls more directly from art deco rather than reinterpreting it.

NEOCLASSICAL - The round backed chairs remind me of the oval backed Adam style.

GOTHIC - these open windows incorporate the gothic lancet style bringin a classic gothic look to a modern setting. The actual opening is almost a simple curve, but they've used he simplfified tracing to define lancet shapes within the overall composition

EGYPTIAN -This theatre room richly incorporates Egyptian styles in a thoroughly modern and possibly high-tech manner. I was drawn to the the centrally highlighted scarab dominating the recessed ceiling as a lighting feature. The theme carries throught around all the walls which incorpoate column and lintels framing the heiroglyphic decorative murals. They finished it all off with egyptian symbols throughout the carpeting.
