If we shrunk the bathroom into a 1/2 bath, then we could possibly move it back to accommodate something like this on the wall immediately in front of the door. I would do something smaller, though to have a "stepped" appearance.

I like the seating area next to the door that allows people to get their shoes on/off. I imaging a small, free standing coat rack with shoe boxes off to the side.
