Cumberland
General Design Wants for Cumberland Kitchen:
-White cabinets, potentially with mix of colored cabinets (light gray, green/gray, or charcoal) either in separate area, or island as different color
-Countertops will be marble or a lower maintenance "marble" like top (Misty Cararra Caeserstone Quartz, Torquay Cambria Quartz, Corian Rain Cloud, etc)
-Backsplash to be a gray/white, potentially going up higher on wall (marble subway tile, marble herringbone, white glass herringbone, etc)
-Want microwave to be hidden in a cabinet
-Want variety for uppers - not just solid uppers everywhere. Like the cabinets that go from ceiling to countertop height, or cabinets on a different wall that take up entire wall. Like open shelves or just no uppers in some areas so it feels open. Want any uppers to go to ceiling without a gap - ideally top part a glass or wire door to break it up with crown molding at the top going to ceiling
-Want a range hood over stove, not sure which style yet
-Would like a pot filler in stovetop area
-Will use a flat top (no backsplash with controls) gas stove - 30inch likely but if we can fit a larger one without it looking to big for the space would be interested in that
-Want to have a farmhouse sink, likely under the window - up in the air on stainless or white. May want two sinks (one small in island, one farmhouse) but depends on layout if this is needed
-Want all outlets to be hidden (nook in island, undercabinet) - Do not want outlets on the backsplash
-Would like pendant lights - over island and potentially over sink
-Love all things organization - pull out drawers in cabinets, utensil organizers, etc.
-Design challenge of kitchen is the two windows. One facing back is very close to the corner. Both go slightly lower than countertop height. First one, (along left side as you walk from dining room into kitchen), may work with a bench seat or something connected to the counter. The one at back (likely spot for farmhouse sink?) will need a creative solution. I've read about having a gap, and putting a custom planter behind the sink?
-Layout is flexible because we are re-doing all plumbing and electrical
-French door size still flexible, small window in layout will be removed, door opening size from dining to kitchen still flexible
-Floors will be all re-finished oak with a walnut finish
