TreeFort Project Ideas
Basic Design Guide.
Built Area: 1500sqrft
Beds: 2-3
Baths: 2-2.5
Floors: 1-Loft
A passive solar with active energy savings and net zero design principles to limit the impact and dependency on water, electric, and heating/cooling. The design should be a very open naturally lit with cove and inset lighting. The construction should be sustainable in nature and incorporate elements of concrete, steel, and wood elements that highlight the natural surrounding and forest area with a minimal impact on developed building area. The emphasis should be on seamlessly integrating into the surrounding landscape almost as if it becomes part of the design elements. The interior should be light wth white walls that refect incoming ambient light
The floor plan should be very open with a modern minimal design approach like the styles of BAK Architect or Walker Workshop Design Build ( http://www.walkerworkshop.com/). There should be minimal wasted space in the forms of hallways or unused rooms. I like the idea of open lofted areas while still maintaining privacy in the sleeping areas. The design should be a flat roof style that may or may not allow access as additional recreational or for even roof top garden hidden behind a half privacy wall surrounding the perimeter. The common living spaces should seem to flow together and then flow outside into the natural landscape inviting access to the outside almost like having no wall on at least one side or portion of the common living space.
I like the idea of an urban home stead that allows for staring with a smaller less than 1500 square foot home that will allow for growth for additional “connected” structure like workshop, art space, or even a “tea” guest cabin
