First Floor Bathroom
The cumbersome shower and unit were both removed and Michelle brought in an old cast-iron bath from another room in the house and painted it dark grey. The slate flooring and simple white tiles are complemented by a floral mural, made splashproof with a coat of decorator’s varnish. -- look at photo of bathroom in Joanna Gaines' book - see about interesting wallpapers & ask if they can be "splash-proofed" in the same way with decorator's varnish?
I LOVE THIS! A big bathroom fully using its space! Claw foot tub, full length mirror - chair and rustic little electric heater - done! Make it into a cozy little room to relax and have a bath in! LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about this...and tile backsplash on wall behind the tub only (rest can be painted/wallpaper)
About bathroom lighting Lavish with good lighting We’ve already mentioned daylight, but many bathrooms simply don’t have a window and, anyway, we all use bathrooms after dark, so it’s vital also to consider artificial lighting. As with any room, the solution comes as a combination of task and ambient lighting. You won’t want to be trying to do eye make-up in your own shadow, for example, so this scheme shows strategic use of a diffused light at face height to provide good illumination just where it’s needed. A concealed light source washing down from beneath the mirror is both practical and adds an ambient glow.
