dutch door to add more light there?

If we take some of the mudroom over to be part of the kitchen, these barn sliding doors are cool to separate the two spaces and hide the laundry. But they look like they take up a lot of space....

I like the idea of a sink back there but not sure there is room

I sort of like the idea of these flat shelves for boots but I'm not sure if it would just turn out to be a big ol mess of shoes but now at eye level :)

Whatever that rack is by the skis leaning against the wall..looks interesting..is it a hat and mitten rack? Something like this might fit in the mudroom in the space the the right of the back door when you come in. But we will probably still be using the front door in the winter because the back driveway won't be plowed so the rack would have to function in summer also. and it would have to be easier to negotiate the pathway there for a few people to pick up their gloves etc and then head back out front.

This has the paneling look that I think is already there...maybe a way to clean it up and or paint it and use it even if we move things around.

Wondering about putting a window by the back closet and entrance there..It's so dark back there but maybe changing the lighting will do the job. I like the wood ceiling here...Or we put a different door in with glass panels along the sides so some more light gets in.
