When a New York-returned couple approached Kshiti Shah – founder and principal architect of KSD Studio – to design their new apartment in the maximum city, they knew they wanted an aesthetic that instantly felt like home.

When a New York-returned couple approached Kshiti Shah – founder and principal architect of KSD Studio – to design their new apartment in the maximum city, they knew they wanted an aesthetic that instantly felt like home.
The living room is dominated by handmade terrazzo flooring, lime plaster walls and an earthy design language.

On the wall, meanwhile, a ceramic installation gives the room a sculptural edge.
The kitchen continues the minimalist and muted theme. Here, custom handles in stone and brass draw the spotlight to the wood-toned cabinetry.
Clean lines, unfussy colours and brown undertones characterise the master bedroom.
The lime-plaster walls make a familiar reappearance, forming a fitting backdrop for the wraparound headboard.

The upholstered wardrobe fronts lend a tactile flair to the rugged surroundings, while bulbous track lights give the room a quirky new dimension.
With crushed-stone-paste surfaces, vertically grooved walls and gilded accents, the bathroom takes on a trad avatar.
“We treated the walls and countertops with 1-millimetre-thick stone paste to maintain the overarching earthiness of the home,” Shah concludes.
