Balancing modern architectural elements with traditional Edwardian features was a key component of the complete renovation of this San Francisco residence. All new finishes were selected to brighten and enliven the spaces, and the home was filled with a mix of furnishings that convey a modern twist on traditional elements. The re-imagined layout of the home supports activities that range from a cozy family game night to al fresco entertaining.

The flat panel cabinets in this white minimalist kitchen have j handles and are painted in Farrow & Ball All White. The oak worktops have been stained with white to create a lighter toned wood which wraps around the island and cabinets. The Falcon range cooker and hood add a pop of contrast to the space. The copper pendant lights and white square splashback tiles add extra warmth and detail while the oak open shelving provides extra storage.

A 90mm thick Elm veneer bartop creates a casual seating arrangement, perfect for enjoying a coffee or sitting to talk with the cook whist they are hard at work.
The Kaolin laminate fronts are edged with aluminium, which high lights the geometric forms and precise lines of the cabinetry.

The kitchen was designed to give a real wow factor. A dramatic 3.7m long central island wrapped in statement dove grey frosted glass was installed and under lit with LED strips. The island houses the double sink, with waste disposer, water softener, pop up sockets, induction hob with downdraft extractor and a breakfast bar at one end. An impressive bank of tall units sits against the back wall with 2 ovens, microwave, steam oven and a large wine fridge. At one end there are pocket doors that fold back to reveal, toaster, mixer and all paraphernalia that usually clutter the worktop. This can be closed when not required, keeping the look sleek and visually pure.
