Cottesloe NexGEN Project

The client wanted to renovate and make watertight, the balcony of their classic period home in Cottesloe, WA. Paul Wilkinson from Castlegate Home Improvements recommended a no maintenance decking option in NexGEN Aluminium DryJoist and Capped Composite Decking. The client looked at all options for waterproofing including membranes and under deck drainage systems however none could solve all issues without causing different problems. DryJoist is a structural deck drainage system that provides the structure of the deck, a waterproof solution and a finished ceiling with a traditional bead board appearance, all in one step. Replacing traditional wooden joists while creating a 100% dry space in the area below. It’s a single system, integrative design that eliminates add-on gutter systems, waterproofing membranes or drainage substructures. The DryJoist product is very low profile at only 50mm high and can span up to 1.8 metres. Castlegate Home Improvements had installed several NexGEN Capped Composite decks, however they had never installed our DryJoist product. Paul loved working with DryJoist and will highly recommend it in the future. The only obstacle he had to overcome was getting the decking to the second storey. The client loved both the DryJoist and the capped composite decking. The DryJoist made it possible to eliminate any water leaking through to the ceiling below and they had no maintenance on their beautiful second story deck.
