Crib in a Closet (San Francisco)

The plan was to move to a bigger place after the baby was born. But by the time they set the wheels in motion, the rental market in San Francisco had gone through the roof! Average rent for a 1-bedroom apartment was $2,700, forcing my clients to stay in the one they were living in for the time being. The problem? With two dogs in the living room, my clients had no choice but to put the crib in the bedroom with them. That was fine with a newborn, but the baby is getting bigger, and he won’t sleep when he is supposed to because he can see his parents and wants to be held. Likewise, the parents don’t have any privacy. The client had the idea to put the crib in the closet, but she wanted my advice on whether this could work or if there were other solutions. After studying the space and listening to all her concerns, I ended up recommending that they re-arrange their entire bedroom, in addition to moving the crib into the closet. It would make the room feel bigger, create more distance from the baby, and address their overall needs with greater impact and efficacy.
