Hemlock St. Midcentury Day Light Ranch
This 1961 Ranch was quite a change, and the goal was to restore this home to a classic modem design. We started with the basement we replaced and moved the gas furnace and ac unit to the site of the house. Since the basement was unfinished, we designed an open floor plan with a full bathroom, two bedrooms, and an entertainment room.

This garden was designed to celebrate panoramic views of the San Gabriel mountains. Horizontal bands of slate tile from the interior of the mid-century home wrap around the house’s perimeter and extend to the rear pool area, inviting the family outdoors. With a pool framed by mature trees, a sunken seating area, fruit trees, and a modest lawn for a young family, the landscape provides a wide range of opportunities for play, entertaining and relaxation. Windsor Companies
The entire grounds of this Lake Minnetonka home was renovated as part of a major home remodel.
The orientation of the entrance was improved to better align automobile traffic. The new permeable driveway is built of recycled clay bricks placed on gravel. The remainder of the front yard is organized by soft lawn spaces and large Birch trees. The entrance to the home is accentuated by masses of annual flowers that frame the bluestone steps.
On the lake side of the home a secluded, private patio offers refuge from the more publicly viewed backyard.
This project earned Windsor Companies a Grand Honor award and Judge's Choice by the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association.
