The owners opened up two smaller rooms to create a beautifully spacious kitchen and family area. A feature island painted in soft Farrow and Ball Pigeon to match the kitchen provides plenty of workspace along with a casual seating area. A soft neutral F&B Shaded White was used on the matching dresser and tall bank of units to compliment the kitchen but add interest and some contrast. A matching window seat and bespoke oak table pick up the tones and creates a comfortable seating area for family meals. A full size larder gives ample storage and with the matching fridge and freezer either side keeps all the food neatly in one area.photos by felix page

Lime Green Glass Kitchen Worktop, Up-stands and Island. The glass worktop and island is made using 19mm low iron toughened glass (can be even thinner - 12-15mm) whereas glass up-stands are made from 6mm, low iron toughened glass. Toughened glass is heat and impact resistant (very hard to break even with a heavy metal object like iron pan etc). Glass is easy to clean and unlike stone worktops glass is resistant to acids or common cleaning chemicals and descalers. Glass is generally harder than stone. It could scratch just like any other stone worktop. Everyday scratches are reparable, deep scratches coud be filled with resin and polished to level. If you are looking for quality glass splashbacks and kitchen worktops, contact our friendly sales team (+44) 800 012 4807, sales@creoglass.co.uk.

The design of this remodel of a small two-level residence in Noe Valley reflects the owner's passion for Japanese architecture. Having decided to completely gut the interior partitions, we devised a better-arranged floor plan with traditional Japanese features, including a sunken floor pit for dining and a vocabulary of natural wood trim and casework. Vertical grain Douglas Fir takes the place of Hinoki wood traditionally used in Japan. Natural wood flooring, soft green granite and green glass backsplashes in the kitchen further develop the desired Zen aesthetic. A wall to wall window above the sunken bath/shower creates a connection to the outdoors. Privacy is provided through the use of switchable glass, which goes from opaque to clear with a flick of a switch. We used in-floor heating to eliminate the noise associated with forced-air systems.

The white Corian island has inset sinks seemlessly made of the same material. The small garden is paved with sawn York stone slabs, with wide steps down to kitchen level. A Webber gas charcoal grille is built into a slate countertop on a buff brick base which extends to frame a built-in planter.

This is a substantial house that looks over the Auckland harbour, it needed a kitchen to the same opulent standard as the home. The centrrepiece of this kitchen is its Calacatta Vagli Oro marble benchtops, it has gold tones in it that inspired the colour palette. The green/gold tone is repeated in several areas, providing a subtle linkto the outdoors and stunning harbour views. The kitchen is illuminated by strip lighting beneath the overhead cabinets and cast out by the light boxes beneath the island. The Australian black bean timber provides further warmth and opulence to the colour palette, featuring as island shelving and in the negative-detail drawer handles. The flooring is Teak.
