Isle de France Town House

Photographer: Anice Hoachlander from Hoachlander Davis Photography, LLC Project Architect: Ellen Hatton, AIA -------- In this French inspired house, the kitchen, breakfast and family rooms are all connected by a stone floored gallery flooded with sunlight and views of the garden. The kitchen is geared to family cooking and relaxing. As the more ambitious chef in the family, the husband drove the kitchen design around serious food and serious fun. The island organizes the food prep area; with easy access to fresh food in the refrigerator, a prep sink in the island, and the oven and stove are both near at hand for when the cooking begins. The butler's pantry is steps away with the dining room beyond and the breakfast table is open to the kitchen on the other side. The classic white painted wall cabinets frame the stained wooden island, so it feels like a large central table. The custom copper hood and pendant light fixtures, the rattan island stools and roman blind over the rear window together with the stained island add a natural warmth to the setting. Serious food and fun flow as intended!
