An antique Chinese frieze hangs above this kitchen’s original fireplace. Bronze farm sinks, bronze hardware and a bronze raised bar are accented by fossil limestone countertops; a subzero wine refrigerator, dishwasher drawers, a Wolf gas, five-burner cooktop and a restaurant-style faucet of brushed nickel, giving this kitchen a gourmet touch. The flatscreen television on an articulating arm makes it even more tempting to spend hours in this family’s favorite spot! An original brick fireplace and woven wood blinds add warmth alongside the many stainless steel appliances. A light tile backsplash, ceiling, lights, and glass leaded cabinet fronts provide a good contrast that keeps the kitchen, with its dark cabinets, from being heavy and oppressive.

This Caulfield South kitchen features a Calacatta Caesarstone benchtop and French Oak flooring. Paired with a gloss-white tiled splashback and brushed brass fixtures, this kitchen embodies elegance and style. The generous sized island bench is the anchor point of the free flowing kitchen. Kitchen-Family Fare Kitchen features 10’ ceilings, limestone counters, and a cutting/work surface of African bubinga wood. The Venetian plaster range hood, simple cabinets and floating shelves evoke an Earthy English cottage. The easy-care “green” floor is renewable cork covered with polyurethane. “We need more green awareness. If it’s a product that holds up in my house, I feel comfortable recommending it to clients,” she says.

This Victorian old house from the beginning of the previous century had to keep its exterior look, but the interior went through a dramatic change and brought it into our era. The first floor of the house was completely transformed into a huge open space, which by doing that already gave it a modern feeling around. The use of modern laminate door style in different colors had emphasized the contemporary style that was brought in with so much elegancy together with the light wood floors and light counter tops. The island was given a sculpture look to create a nice focal point for the kitchen where the cooking preparation is mostly taking place at. Door Style Finish: Alno Look, laminate door style, in the graphite, yellow and magnolia white colors finish.

1. What Makes a Good Kitchen Design, and Why is it Important?

For starters, you want to find a balance between aesthetics and function. You may have heard of the ‘kitchen work triangle’, which refers to the space between your fridge, sink and stove. You want everything within easy reach when you’re working in the kitchen and look beautiful at the same time. It’s a good idea to take note of both when browsing our photo gallery.

2. Consider Your Space to Determine Your Kitchen Layout

Firstly, consider the space you have, and the limitations that come with it. Do you have a small kitchen and need to maximise your workspace and storage? Which appliances do you already own and what are their measurements? Are there windows you need to take into consideration when planning cabinets? How do kitchen, living and dining areas connect?
