A bright and charming basement kitchen creates a coherent scheme with each colour complementing the next. A white Corian work top wraps around grey silk finished lacquered cupboard doors and draws. The look is complete with hexagonal terracotta floor tiles that bounce off the original brick work above the oven adding a traditional element.

Project 3408-1 Scandinavian Kitchen Remodel w/ Custom Island on Wheels

Castle Building & Remodeling

This 1901-built bungalow in the Longfellow neighborhood of South Minneapolis was ready for a new functional kitchen. The homeowners love Scandinavian design, so the new space melds the bungalow home with Scandinavian design influences. A wall was removed between the existing kitchen and old breakfast nook for an expanded kitchen footprint. Marmoleum modular tile floor was installed in a custom pattern, as well as new windows throughout. New Crystal Cabinetry natural alder cabinets pair nicely with the Cambria quartz countertops in the Torquay design, and the new simple stacked ceramic backsplash. All new electrical and LED lighting throughout, along with windows on three walls create a wonderfully bright space. Sleek, stainless steel appliances were installed, including a Bosch induction cooktop. Storage components were included, like custom cabinet pull-outs, corner cabinet pull-out, spice racks, and floating shelves. One of our favorite features is the movable island on wheels that can be placed in the center of the room for serving and prep, OR it can pocket next to the southwest window for a cozy eat-in space to enjoy coffee and tea. Overall, the new space is simple, clean and cheerful. Minimal clean lines and natural materials are great in a Minnesotan home. Designed by: Emily Blonigen. Au pied du métro Saint-Placide, ce spacieux appartement haussmannien abrite un jeune couple qui aime les belles choses. J’ai choisi de garder les moulures et les principaux murs blancs, pour mettre des touches de bleu et de vert sapin, qui apporte de la profondeur à certains endroits de l’appartement. La cuisine ouverte sur le salon, en marbre de Carrare blanc, accueille un ilot qui permet de travailler, cuisiner tout en profitant de la lumière naturelle. Des touches de laiton viennent souligner quelques détails, et des meubles vintage apporter un côté stylisé, comme le buffet recyclé en meuble vasque dans la salle de bains au total look New-York rétro.

This re-imagined open plan space where a white gloss galley once stood offers a stylish update on the traditional kitchen layout. Individually spaced tall cabinets are recessed in to a hidden wall to the left to create a sense of a wider space than actually exists and the removal of all wall cabinets opens out the room to add much needed light and create a vista. For starters, you want to find a balance between aesthetics and function. You may have heard of the ‘kitchen work triangle’, which refers to the space between your fridge, sink and stove. You want everything within easy reach when you’re working in the kitchen and look beautiful at the same time. It’s a good idea to take note of both when browsing our photo gallery.

Firstly, consider the space you have, and the limitations that come with it. Do you have a small kitchen and need to maximise your workspace and storage? 3. Decide on a Kitchen Style, But Don’t Forget Practicality

You want the style of your kitchen to reflect your personality and taste.
