A smaller set of curved steps separate the upper and lower living areas and are also clad in walnut; tying the two areas together. Chinky matching timber trim is also seen around the edge of the upper level balcony and glass balcony balustrade. The timber selected was prime grade, engineered American walnut - compatible with underfloor heating and finished with hard-wax oil to ensure a natural appearance and needing little in the way of maintenance.
