©Linda Oyama Bryan In the rose garden, the bluestone chip pathway is neatly raked weekly, while granite pavers lining the hand-pruned boxwood are checked and cleaned of any invading grasses. The roses are regularly deadheaded, fertilized six times per season, and treated when necessary for fungus and insects. The standard lilacs that anchor the space are also pruned regularly.
