Melody Court Kitchen

Expressed Needs of Client Mrs. Homeowner had lived with her dated, cramped kitchen and casual dining space for decades and was ready for a new look, with smarter storage, more working space and a more welcoming feel for entertaining. Mr. Homeowner had become interested in cooking and took a keen interest in the design of the new kitchen. They wanted the new kitchen to be roomy enough for two cooks working at the same time without bumping into each other. Chief Obstacles The kitchen area was essentially a long, narrow space that was cut in the center by a right-angle peninsula which sat only two. By eliminating that and designing a new longer peninsula that angled out into the room, much was accomplished. It features a raised bar and can seat up to six. The floor and all the woodwork in the kitchen was stained honey oak. Once the granite and backsplash were selected, a new color palette emerged. We selected a warm lighter taupe stain for the floor. For the trim, we engaged the services of a talented trade partner who stained and glazed all the woodwork a lighter taupe. The result was a modern color palette and plenty of room for the homeowners and their guests to move about and mingle.
