Palo Alto Driveway Garden

This driveway was designed to fulfill multiple functions. The pebble area bounded by brick acts as a huge drainage dissipator; the house downspouts are routed into it to allow roof runoff to percolate back into the soil rather than running out to the street. The brick border relates to the brick porch and the brick runners beyond while the warm beige salt-finish concrete creates an attractive setting for the pebble & brick centerpiece. photo: Diane Hayford
