Retro Fit panels from old house to new house

This is a picture of the new dining room space where we were to retro fit the panels. The problem is that the ceilings are higher in the new house and if we just mounted the panels as they were, they would be too short and out of proportion with the room. We also didn't want to mess with the existing make up of the panels because of the lovely button trim along the leading edge. So we decided to create a valance to go over with coordinating linen fabric and use the same trim to connect them. See next picture.
