Shenandoah Kitchen Renovation

UIC completed this gut kitchen renovation in the fall of 2011. The kitchen located in a 110 year old historic home was confined to a 10’ wide room that extended across the entire length of the rear of the home, which was further cut up by a rear staircase; a relic from the properties life as a multi-family building. Working closely with this family with two young boys, UIC developed a scheme that lead to open and functional scheme in a limited space, accented by a two-story atrium in the opening left by the former staircase.
