The stairs needed to be as delicate and transparent as possible so they would not obscure the light filtering down from the skylight above. ⁠ ⁠ So, we opted for a steel stringer at the center of the stair with cantilevered wood treads. ⁠ ⁠ The treads appear to penetrate the glass guardrail that flows up between the stair runs.⁠
