Wimbledon Park Road
This is an interesting example of where applying for a very bold and advantageous ‘planning consent’ pays off ! We were encouraged by our client to design the most adventurous scheme to alter and extend the house and to maximise it’s potential. Part of this exercise was to take the original staircase out of the house, thereby freeing up a lot of space internally … and to design a new external glass stair tower. This new addition, along with other extensions to the property meant that we would be making a planning application to the local authority for a really challenging scheme. It is hard to pre-judge a planning application when one is pushing the boundaries, but in this case, we found support amongst the senior planners within the borough, and ‘consent’ was duly granted.
