Susan Yeley HomesLike most of our projects, we can't gush about this reno—a new kitchen and mudroom, ensuite closet and pantry—without gushing about the people who live there. The best projects, we always say, are the ones in which client, contractor and design team are all present throughout, conception to completion, each bringing their particular expertise to the table and forming a cohesive, trustworthy team that is mutually invested in a smooth and successful process. They listen to each other, give the benefit of the doubt to each other, do what they say they'll do. This project exemplified that kind of team, and it shows in the results.
Most obvious is the opening up of the kitchen to the dining room, decompartmentalizing somewhat a century-old bungalow that was originally quite purposefully compartmentalized. As a result, the kitchen had to become a place one wanted to see clear through from the front door. Inset cabinets and carefully selected details make the functional heart of the house equal in elegance to the more "public" gathering spaces, with their craftsman depth and detail. An old back porch was converted to interior space, creating a mudroom and a much-needed ensuite walk-in closet. A new, larger deck went on: Phase One of an extensive design for outdoor living, that we all hope will be realized over the next few years. Finally, a duplicative back stairwell was repurposed into a walk-in pantry.
Modernizing often means opening spaces up for more casual living and entertaining, and/or making better use of dead space. In this re-conceptualized old house, we did all of that, creating a back-of-the-house that is now bright and cheerful and new, while carefully incorporating meaningful vintage and personal elements.
The best result of all: the clients are thrilled. And everyone who went in to the project came out of it friends.

Hive DwellingThis is a project where the softness of white Ikea kitchen cabinet doors, in combination with the height of the space, worked beautifully. The increased storage offered by two stacked rows of top cabinets created ample storage and palatial looks. Knowing the difference in shade between Grimslov and Axtad style Ikea kitchen doors, we decided the house style would blend perfectly by choosing a crisp white door like Axtad. The backsplash tile has a slight iridescent pearl hue, soaking the space in subtle iridescent light. We personalized the kitchen with brass handles. The choice of white, modern appliances with copper handles is daring, and we think it looks charming. The build-in double door oven, fridge, dishwasher, and range are GE Cafe.
Mon Concept HabitationDans cette maison familiale de 120 m², l’objectif était de créer un espace convivial et adapté à la vie quotidienne avec 2 enfants.
Au rez-de chaussée, nous avons ouvert toute la pièce de vie pour une circulation fluide et une ambiance chaleureuse. Les salles d’eau ont été pensées en total look coloré ! Verte ou rose, c’est un choix assumé et tendance. Dans les chambres et sous l’escalier, nous avons créé des rangements sur mesure parfaitement dissimulés qui permettent d’avoir un intérieur toujours rangé !
OZ Interiorsl’appartamento è stato progettato per un affitto di breve termine. Abbiamo deciso di decorarlo nello stile scandinavo in voga al tempo della costruzione. Sono stati usati gli elementi principali dello stile originario: muri bianchi, sfumature neutre, arredi con accenti di colore, piedini di legno arrotondati di arredi, rame, posters, con ispirazione dalla natura. Per minimizzare le spese la pianta originaria non è stata cambiata. Nel bagno abbiamo installato sanitari vintage di colore rosa.

A Class Kitchens of BedfordHaving seating on opposite sides of the island creates a more social area to eat and drink together. On this design we also kept the wine cooler close to the seating area, so chilled wine is within easy reach.

Для визуального расширения пространства стоит использовать несколько вариантов освещения, в том числе и точечную подсветку кухонного стола. Отличными «расширителями» также станут светлые оттенки, зеркальные поверхности, отсутствие громоздкой и монолитной мебели.
Стилевое решение в кухне-студии должно оставаться единым. Однако никто не запрещает «разделять» помещение при помощи дизайна и мебели.
Как разделить помещение?
• При помощи барной стойки или кухонного острова
• Открытая полка или раздвижная ширма
• Разные уровни пола или потолка (хорошо смотрится кухня на возвышении)
• Комнатные растения в больших напольных горшках
При оформлении такой комнаты важно помнить и о том, что все воздуховоды и трубы должны быть тщательно скрыты от глаз. Используйте для этого шкафы, обшивку из гипсокартона.
