Craig Charon Design is the best there is! When I sought a designer to help me plan and execute a major remodel of my home (new Kitchen, laundry, 2 new baths and master closet, all new flooring and paint) I was lucky enough to find Craig Charon Design. Craig's extensive experience, design aesthetic, attention to detail, Craftsmanship were invaluable from our first meeting to the final inspection on this 6-month project. Simply put, Craig is the best!. It has been a real blessing to both know him and have him help us realize our vision of having a contemporary-styled home mixed with traditional Indian accents! As we set out to renovate our home (originally built in 1996), we were referred to him by our General Contractor, as the addition of a Bay-window seat required the services of an Architect. Just with our first meeting in April 2018, my wife and I were very impressed with his creativity, professionalism and drive for excellence. Craig is both an artist and a craftsman. We were simply blown away by his mastery of hand-drawn sketches and drawings – to help us immediately visualize the many possible options to transform much of our 1st floor (kitchen, family room, dining room, family room, prayer room, bathroom, staircase) as well as the master suite in the 2nd floor (bed room, retreat, study and bathroom). His added expertise in woodworking and cabinetry, coupled with his copious research, resulted in us having a home that now incorporates a wonderful selection of wood, tile, stone and several artistic elements. He coached and guided us to ensure that there was the required harmony between the various spaces in terms of design, material and color. He also took care of the entire permitting process with the City of San Jose. Since the scope of the project continued to expand, per our request, he stayed on through completion, in an added role as our Project Manager. He worked closely with the rest of the team – which included our General Contractor, and the professionals that took care of cabinetry, stone work, wooden floor, tile floor, glass staircase. Along the way, he helped take care of some of the design changes that we requested. We will forever be grateful on how Craig helped us deal with some of the surprises and challenges during the course of the project. Craig’s involvement and efforts, along with those of our GC and his Team, were critical to us being able to move back into our home just within 5+ months!. The result is simply outstanding and we are very happy to have our wonderful home for all the years to come.

We hired Craig to help us design and plan out a remodel for our home. We moved some interior walls and wanted an addition in order to add a bedroom and bathroom for our growing family. Craig was really great to work with. He was extremely responsive and carefully considered our wish list, listened to our ideas and addressed all of our questions patiently. He offered suggestions and came up with a great design that gave us everything we asked for. He also helped us get through the permitting process for San Jose and made it hassle free. His final blueprints and drawings were thorough and easy for us to read for our contractor to follow! Would highly recommend him if you're looking for a great design professional for your home remodels.

Craig was our architect and we love him! He designed our kitchen addition, backyard patio room, and bathroom remodel. He made the process simple and painless as possible. Craig took the blueprints through the city permit process and got the plans approved quickly and efficiently (much smoother than I anticipated). As this was my first home renovation, I didn't know what the expect and was pleasantly surprised of the details that Craig put into the kitchen cabinet design and layout. I honestly thought the cabinet person would've done that portion, but I'm glad that he did as it gave me a more thorough overview of the home we were about to build. During the construction phase, there were some issues, but Craig was quick to respond and resolved all issues. We love the home that Craig designed for us and we are grateful that we found him. We live in San Jose and if anyone is considering hiring Craig, I am open to showing you our house that we just completed renovation this year (2018). We highly recommend Craig.

Craig designed my master bathroom. He made several great recommendations - things that I would not have thought of. He was great to work with and asked questions to find out what I wanted. The bathroom is beautiful and functional. I highly recommend Craig. Very easy to work with. He takes care of every design detail.

I hired Craig to create a design to include a new master bedroom with an attached bath, kitchen and family room extension. Craig did an amazing job. From the very beginning he did an awesome job with explaining the process of payment and what he should have completed and each point Craig listened to our needs and made changes as needed when we had concerns, since my fiance decided in the middle of the design that he needed room for a sauna. Craig was able to give us his opinions and we worked together to decide on the final design. Craig was very easy to work with and always made me feel comfortable with making decisions. He was very easy to get ahold of for any questions that we might have. Craig's design was perfect for our space. I even hired Craig to help with getting the permits. We ran into flood zoning issues that was a pain, but Craig was able to direct me in the path so we can get the permits finalized. Craig was a huge help and I would have probably been lost with out his guidance. In the end we received the perfect design and the permits to begin construction. I would highly recommend Craig Charon Design.

We used Craig Charon Design for an extensive kitchen remodel, which included removal of two load bearing walls, foundation work, changes to the roof line and the actual reconfiguration of the kitchen, laundry area and dining room. We had used a previous designer to try and accomplish the same task and we were not smitten with any of the design ideas. Craig however came up with the perfect design, which gave us everything we were looking for without having to make any compromises. Craig is very meticulous and detail oriented. His architectural plans and design work are impeccable. As is often the case with construction projects there are issues that need to be addressed. Whenever we had such issues, Craig was right there to talk to the contractors to come up with a solution and to give them instructions on what they should be doing. When we opened up one of the side walls to our laundry area we actually found additional space that we didn't know we had. Craig came over right away to modify the plans and take advantage of the additional space. Outstanding! The same was true for all the details and trim work around the kitchen island, for the cabinets, etc. Craig ensured that it was all according to plan, and if it wasn't he made sure that the contractors would fix it. In summary Craig is very knowledgeable and experienced, very organized, and pays attention to the details that can make a big difference in any construction project. I can highly recommend him.

My wife and I have worked with Craig over the past 6 years on a number of projects including remodeling our master bathroom, full floor to ceiling cabinets in our garage, fireplace reconstruction, outside deck and stairs as well as the design and custom design of all our interior doors and closet doors. Our experience in working with Craig has been nothing short of wonderful from the creative process of design, drawings, and plans, to the execution and completion of the project. He has the innate ability to envision your inspiration through words and magazine pictures and make it a reality. His knowledge and experience in cabinet design and all aspects of construction is unsurpassed. Of particular importance to us was his professionalism, reliability, honesty, cleanliness and willingness to work with us in a collaborative manner in all aspects of the many projects he carried out for us. We found his pricing to be fair and reasonable and could not recommend Craig's services any more highly.

Craig was such an asset to my remodel. His plans are hand drawn and not computer generated so you really get a good picture of what it is going to look like. Working in all aspects of a remodel, planning, designing, building, and managing, Craig does it all. He does it all with a smile! He never makes you feel like you are wasting his time. He cares. He is meticulous and saw to every detail. He worked very well with all of the other tradesmen on the project as well as with me. He helped me in so many ways on things that were not even in his scope of the project. My only regret is that I didn't know him sooner. I wouldn't hesitate to use him in the future and feel very comfortable referring him to others, as I have already done. Thank you Craig!

Craig was fantastic on design. He is very knowledgeable about construction, so he was able to adjust the design to fit the structural constraints. He was very detail oriented and his drawings were very accurate, greatly reducing stress for me. Thanks to Craig, our house far exceeded our expectations, it turned out fabulous. I really wanted to give Craig a five star ratting, the only reservation for not doing so was his installer. There were some headaches involved there, probably out of Craig's control. I wanted to be fair to the readers.

Craig is a total pro. He not only did all the design work for the remodeling, but he also managed the project for us. The end result was fantastic. The bathrooms were so beautiful and clean, and I can't imagine them having been able to turn out any better than they did. Craig really knows how to get quality results.
